How We Got To Here: Christianity Version

Cracker barrel bro. If your ladybird doesnt kno2 how to make em...the barrel will work in a pinch. Old timers breakfast ftw. Tater casserole is the jam. My wife is the best cook in either of our families so i am spoiled.she made a pot of beans yesterday that only grannies know how to make, then. Made me a pan of pnut butter brownies just for extra credit.

There are only a handful of crCkerbarrels up here and none close. Its like they don't even belief in breakfast.

You're a lucky dog to have a wife that will make you a pot of beans & a pan of peanut butter brownies.

I have to beg my wife to get out of bed to do something in the kitchen.

Does that make the majority any less culpable?

Most Muslims are peaceful, yet they remain largely silent and they're subsequently defined as accomplices by their inaction. Fundamentally, if one is going to hold one majority responsible for their silence, why not all?

Wait... seriously??? You're going to equate the actions of Muslim terrorists with a Christian minority who aren't in favor of gay marriage? What a horrible comparison. Exactly what travesty are the Christians who aren't in favor of gay marriage imposing on others that "we other Christians" should be speaking out against? You find the travesties and I'll be glad to show where Christians spoke out against it.

I know. How about the 49 people murdered at a gay night club in Orlando. Oh, that's right... that was by someone who was more aligned with Muslim beliefs. However, you might recall that it was a local Chick-fil-A that decided to open on Sunday and provide food for all of those who needed it. Yep... us horrible Christians.

And ftr, there are also many of this "vocal minority" against gay marriage you speak of who aren't even Christians. Shouldn't you be speaking out against them? C'mon... where's your voice?

You're way off base here Septic, and are showing yourself as part of the problem I was alluding to in my previous post. Always looking for a reason to make Christians look bad.

We gotta get this poor guy below the Mason-Dixon..or gift him a Cracker Barrel franchise license

We may disagree on politics and religion, but at least we can all agree that Ape needs some Cracker Barrel!

Haha

I think my oldest said something about having to go up to Penn to help open a Bojangles...so there may be hope on the way

Atheism is a vacuum. It doesn't replace anything. Even many who identify as atheist practice some sort of spiritualism.

I always love when a non-atheist explains what atheism is; it means you don't believe in a higher power and that's it. If you replace it with something else, then you probably aren't really an atheist.

Lighten up Francis, I wasn't comparing the actions of the two groups - simply that the majority takes the blame for the small vocal minority due to their silence. Predictably, you seemed to not be OK with that when it was the Christians...

FFS, you yourself managed to analogize the Christianity with BLM but get outraged when it's pointed out that the whole of Islam takes it on the chin because of the radicals? Apparently the scale, not the point managed to trigger you to lose all bowel and bladder control. LOL, my bad.

Back to my point. Don't pretend it's not that big a deal when it's your team and unforgivable when it's another group you disagree with. Either the blind eye turning majority is at least partially culpable through their silence or they aren't. You seem to want it both ways as long as you get to determine the scale on which the comparison is made. Cupcakes and Bunnies, OK - Radical Islam, not so much.

I can't say I'm surprised that you weren't able to connect the dots and instead got defensive about who and not the idea behind the point being contrasted against.

It's a non-issue for the majority of Christians today, and those opposing it are already in the minority, so I'd say your prediction is pretty safe.

But... this does highlight an issue that exists, and is often presented in these threads, which is that non-believers have formed their own opinions of Christians which often times are not supported by actual facts.

The latest data from Dec 2015 states 54% of all Christians are ok with gay marriage. A majority but only barely, and I said it would be a "complete non issue"; if almost half still have an issue with it, then you cannot declare it a "complete non issue".

So you can get your panties in a wad about my opinions about Christians' view of gay marriage, but it is most certainly supported by "actual facts".

Dang Septic. You typed up this rambling mess and yet you're suggesting that I'm the one who needs to lighten up? It's quite evident who is being defensive (hint: it's not me).

I've read your post twice and it's so all over the place it's almost incoherent. And after rambling on for 4 paragraphs, you still didn't provide any travesties that we Christians "should be culpable for". Seriously, what is it exactly that this vocal minority of Christians are doing that needs to be addressed?

I agree. That's almost as funny as when people who don't believe in or study the Bible try to tell those who do what it means.

And you also said in 50 years, but it looks like you would prefer to argue semantics. Honestly... I'm not interested. Though clearly you and Septic are two of kind. You seemingly can't handle someone disagreeing with you, so your defensive mechanism is to accuse the person who disagrees of "getting his panties in a wad".

I might be going out on a limb here, but I'm thinking you were probably the absolute star of your debate team.

Don't sell yourself short, you're being plenty defensive.

I've tried dumbing it down, even pointed out where you went wrong but dude, I can't understand it for you.

With all due respect, I could take another stab at it but I'm not convinced you're capable of abstract thoughts or concepts that don't evolve past construction paper and crayons.

1) Assuming I've never studied the Bible....tsk tsk tsk, bad assumption there junior.

2) I don't even know what in the hell you're trying to argue now; I said it would be a "complete non issue" in 50 years, and you jump on me claiming it isn't now and accuse me of not knowing the facts. I prove you wrong with said facts and you then say "meh but you said in 50 years" and accuse me of playing semantics. WTF? And the cherry on top, in you getting overly defensive you project onto me and Septic that WE are the ones getting defensive and that WE are the ones that can't handle someone not agreeing with us?

Methinks thou dost protest too much.

.

It's not that you're disagreeing my man, really. It's just awkward that you're arguing points to a debate where you're the only participant.

I just think it's funny he accuses you of rambling and being defensive, when he's all over the place in his post and I can almost feel his blood pressure rising in each post he makes.
