The one variable that is going against Georgia this year is are the players buying in. There are rumblings that not everyone has bought in and some guys are still loyal to Richt and thought he shouldn't have been let go. That's all hear say but if that is true, it will be a long year. Players buying in is critical. Something Butch did a great job with when he first came to the hill.
I agree that most of them will play on STs or in mop-up after the starters are pulled. I was surprised because CBJ has always stressed playing FR out of necessity and said in the past that we wouldn't always be doing that. I thought we would move to more of a Saban-type model, where about 10 players are redshirted and put through a year of conditioning and development before seeing the field.
I'm in the same boat. Except I still go through all of the recruits threads. I have to make sure the threads aren't bold. But when I go through them, I don't read everything. Mostly look for quotes and certain posters. We had a ton of quality posters here before, but looks like its been dwindled down to a minute amount.
So Tee's still a VFL?
It also depends on position. Because we are thin at WR, you will see most of the freshmen play. Warrior and Osborne are good enough to play immediately, and Kongbo and A. Johnson were recruited to play immediately. I don't have any information, but I would think all of the OL (unless an emergency), Blakely, and Brooks will redshirt.
I thought the same thing when I read that. I was thinking some of the reporters said there were a lot less freshman playing on special teams then past years as well.
I'd expect maybe half the freshman to redshirt and none of the JUCOs once the roster is in good shape. The WRs and maybe one freshman at OT will be pressed into action due to lack of depth, but outside of that the roster has stabilized and only redshirting 4 seems weird. I can certainly name more than 4 that won't sniff the two deep this year.
