3 teams in the West look better than Tennessee

Whoever thinks Ole Miss is better than us in any way in on some serious crack rock. Thank goodness this will be settled on the field.

It's debatable if ole miss is better that Tennessee right now. I'm comfortable saying Alabama and LSU are better than UT at the moment. But the minute these teams step on the field that could change.

Alabama and LSU are better by the slightest of margins. Ole Miss lost a ton. They'll be good but not better than Tennessee.

This is certainly debatable, Ole Miss does bring in a pretty good QB, but I am not high on their OL and DL. Hard to throw when 290lb+ dudes are breaking through the line with bad intentions.

The talking season is over, let's prove it on the field, I am betting it LSU and UT at the SEC Championship and if UT is healthy at that time, their RBs might get some yards, but at the end of the day, it's are running game opening up our passing game.....UT by 10 points.

I'm not comfortable saying that.

I'm not sure any team in the nation is BETTER than Tennessee right now. I think Bama is certainly as good as us, and may have a slight edge especially toward the end of the game with their incredibly talented depth. But we're talking small measurements.

Same in reverse for LSU; I think we may be a smidge better, but it'd be very close. Our advantage against Ole Miss is a bit bigger, but still close enough that either team could win on the field on any given Saturday.

Bottom line is, there's too much variance in EVERY team from week to week to say X is better than Y when all the teams being considered are this close in talent and coaching. Is why it has to be played out on the field.

Go Vols!

UT is definitely far better than old piss. Swap the two teams and the list looks decent.

Old Miss just lost one of their "co-starter" running-backs, Jordan Wilkins.

Mississippi Rebels RB Jordan Wilkins declared academically ineligible

Wilkins failed to meet the NCAA standards for progress toward a degree."An appeal was filed with the NCAA for Jordan's reinstatement based on an administrative error but was denied this week," the school's release said. "The athletics department takes full responsibility and holds itself accountable when situations like this occur with our student-athletes. We will support Jordan to the fullest during this time and look forward to seeing him return to the field."

That's not a very good look for Freeze or his staff.

One of the comments-because of experience and steady improvement, I would say Tennessee is the most likely of the bunch. If the Vols' offense quits taking its foot off of the gas in the first quarter of big games, they could easily end up in Tier 1."

Call me crazy but I think Ole Miss is winning the West. The teams with the craziest offseason will meet in ATL.

Ole Miss vs Tennessee, very similar teams, except:

Only 1 of the 2 lost to a G5 team last year.

Only 1 of the 2 lost a ton of talent to the NFL last year.

This sounds like an "on paper" argument. On paper that might be so. Heck aTm and Ga would be right there too.

Thank goodness the games are played on the field. It's hard to say who's better. IMO its all about match-ups or who's on the upswing at the time.

If one team is great but their only weakness is a poor pass D and they are playing a team that's not viewed to be as good but they have a really solid passing game then the "better" team may very well get beat.

Bottom line the Vols are gona line up on the field and can play with ANY team in the nation so match-ups, injuries, momentum, home field vs road game etc are gona be what determines who wins or losses. Don't matter who is viewed as a better team when it's this close to being evenly matched up talent wise.

Bama is the only team I'd say is definitely better. Lsu has a ton of talent but has been very inconsistent offensively in recent years. You just don't even know what they are going to be. And ole miss is a question mark as well. They lost a bunch of their very best players to the nfl
Our only real question mark is wether or not Butch will keep the peddle to the floor in offense. That was the only thing that held us back last year (and even at times the year before). If he can get over that hurdle we should be hard for anyone to beat. Including bama

Tennessee must now earn their spot among the best of the SEC, fortunately they seem to be up to the task.
Go Vols
