Chair backs at Neyland

I used to think like that.

Then I grew up and realized if I'm in YY9 or QQ or wherever, if I'm yelling it doesn't really make a difference if my butt is on the aluminum or if I'm standing. I'm there and I'm making noise.

I realize there are some serious sticks in the mud at our games, but really and truly they're usually outliers and most of the complaints come from clods who insist on standing the entire game like they're still in the student section.

Sometimes those pesky elderly people love the Vols just as much as you, but their bodies will no longer allow them to stand for long stretches of time. Or maybe they're young and have health problems. Or have sustained injuries that won't allow it. Hell fire, there are more than a few VFLs on shredded knees that can't stand during a game.

You've got some serious gall if you'd run them out of the stadium for that reason.

I wouldn't run them out. Instead I would have a section dedicated for them.

You know my post was sarcasm? Is that elephant actually being hanged?

Oh, I wasn't responding to yours at all, I caught your sarcasm. I was aiming at a few above you. Several posters start the "Errrbody gotta stand/true fan!!!" song and dance every summer. Its annoying.

Yes, its being hanged. Happened in Erwin, TN. Very strange, yet typical early 1900s story.

As you said earlier, put them in the upper level and out of way. I am sure they would have no problem walking up the steps. Just as long as they are out of way.

Some might call me savage. I'm about Tennessee football and what ever I can possibly do to give our team an advantage. It's your damn job to put fear into the opposing team.

On the end and you are lucky to get 1 cheek on

At Neyland and in an airplane, when I see an obese person walking toward me.
I keep thinking....please don't sit next to me...please, please...

I wild rather have an opposing fan, a smelly fan, an overly talky fan.....but I hate being crushed with no arm room or leg room.....

They should create a new section which consists of cables strung over the field. There would be about 100 plastic bubbles suspended from each cable, where you can sit and watch a top-down view. Should be able to add 4000-5000 this way. Also should add to the intimidation factor, the opponent can't even look up to pray to whatever god he worships before the Vols whip his ass, without being confronted by angry fanatics. Especially about the 4th quarter when they have to pee, they'll be quite ill-tempered.

I understand if it is the excuse of more room but to just order cushion sit in all game is pretty much wussification and need to stay home on your lazyboy.

Lol... Do you still have that dream where the coach points at you and tells you to come down out of the stands and put a uniform on?

Just do your thing and don't worry about anybody else. It's easy.

Yep... And it will be worse now that the bandwagonersers are coming back.

If anybody that orders one says they do it for comfort, then they're nuts.

The cushion itself is fine, but those $&%#! bars those hold the little back rest up are absolute devices of torture.

I'm guessing you're over weight or elderly? i did pay. And I paid a preium to a person that has season tickets who made a lot of money off me. It's a hostile environment not you're living room. Cry me a river if someone rubs your shoulder.

Neither overweight nor elderly.but I have seat back for all 4 of my seats...$50/year is worth it just for halftime and pre game alone, not to mention the seat saver... And you could've had your own seats, but paid a "premium" to an actual donor. Even if you had donated, you still arent going to tell me to sit or stand

You're right, I'm not not going to tell anyone to sit or stand. What I'm saying is i think being at a college football game, especially at a Tennessee game fans SHOULD be standing 90% of the time and yelling loud enough it causes them to lose their voice for several days after. If this requires alcohol than you do anything you have to do. People with your mindset I feel are more worried about your space and the people around you than winning the game and creating the best atmosphere possible. When I am at a game those things simply don't bother me and it wouldn't be any different if i was donating any amount of money.(which i have done in the past)

I have not had that dream specifically but I have been dreaming quite a bit lately about the Florida game.

Maybe I'm in the minority but I don't mind people squeezing in. We need as many people as possible to be as loud as possible. I don't care if they paid or not.

Let em in your section, otherwise they can sit in the upper deck where they snuck from. Never saw anybody try to squeeze in there.

Most importantly: they hold your designated space on the bleachers. I remember games where my wife and I would arrive to space barely fit for one person before the seat cushions/backs.

THIS^^^
Cant stand it when someone wants to squeeze a friend in with them on my row.. (Its OK if you are in the student section I suppose, but not elsewhere) Also if your big boned, or full figured or just plain fatarse how bout buying two.. Also, no matter how little your child or baby is, they MUST have a ticket for themselves as well!!

I never understand people that have been to about 3 games trying to explain to people that have been to 50 what a true fan should do.

I am getting them for my seats. I will tell you why. Two years ago my wife and I were going to our seats and there were three hefty people already in their seats. After they tried to make room for my wife and I. She still had to shut in my lap when she wanted to sit down. So with the chair backs, problem solved.

nationdome wins. the objective of winning takes priority and creates unity whereas the action of telling someone to sit down is divisive and causes tension within. if you can't see the game because someone is standing then you must stand also...(hint), possible to bribe with likker, or money.

Uh oh... I sense a "stand for the whole game" vs "have some respect" debate about to break out.

Has anyone tried calling and getting chair backs for season tickets that you bought from someone?

I bought mine off of Stubhub, and was considering doing this if possible.

I did and they said you can.

I think you should kiss my arse young buck.

now class, there are times for sitting and standing and if you are unfortunate enough to not being able to stand long and are surrounded by standers, and if it bothers you that much you likely need to make some changes. the prime reason i say that is because UT is hungry.. the fans are hungry and the noise needs to be relayed to the team on the field because it shows the support we have for our team and i'm sure this plays into the minds of not only the players on the field but those of whom we are attempting to recruit who may be in attendance. the expectations of team 120 cause me to pity your arse this year old buck.
