'17 TN RB Ty Chandler (UT signee)

Uhh...Possibly flip Higgins? What happened there? I ignored thread

Someone has a "source" that tells them that his mom really wants him to go to UT. Apparently he's a huge mama's boy according to this source as well, so hence the optimism that we could flip him back. But essentially what glich said.

Well this should be fun. My cousin starts on the O line for MBA, just texted me saying

"Good news, Ty is reallyyy close to committing, between us (UT), ole miss and USC. But I would definitely say UT has the lean. He's a pretty quiet humble guy so it's hard to tell sometimes. He's also up to 200lbs now (from 175-180 last year)."

Ty Chandler and John Kelly in the backfield? I'll allow it.

USC as south carolina or so cal?

Higgins was a big loss. Stevens was never coming here. Isn't he from Louisiana originally? Rogers was never coming here, and Richardson and Hayden didn't appear to be that high on the board. I'm not sure what's going on with Eze, but If we sign Smith, Chandler, Gray, Fant, Jackson, Bumphus, and Cimaglia, that's a nice instate haul. It's a much better class than anyone else will sign from Tennessee. No school completely locks their state down.

Chandler said he hasn't scheduled any visits for games this season, but he's hoping to make it to Tennessee, Southern California, Georgia and perhaps a couple of other SEC schools, including Auburn, Ole Miss and maybe Florida. He admitted Tennessee is in his top three or top five right now, and he said he might try to narrow his list to a top three or top five at some point. He's still taking an open-ended approach in regard to a decision timeline, but he admitted it's possible he could make a decision sometime during his senior season. If so, he said he could take a couple of official visits before then, but probably not all five.
He said he's not sure when he will visit Tennessee again, but he's hoping to make it to either the Florida game or the Alabama game, or perhaps even both. He said he still hears plenty from Tennessee, and he admitted the chance to possibly go in and play a lot as a true freshman is one of the reasons he's high on the Vols.

I would be totally surprised if he pick USC just because of distance. Matter of fact I would be shocked if it wasn't UT with the opportunity to possibility start early and play close to home.

"Right now he's not a take for Georgia as they wait to see what D'Andre Swift is going to do. USC and Ole Miss are the biggest threats for Tennessee, but I think he's pretty close to a lock for the Vols at this point, assuming there's a spot for him."

And Fortenberry said he's not really feeling OM. Sounds like we're in pretty good shape here.
If there's not a spot then we have some actually serious recruiting problems that are much worse than the 3 star conversations we've been having

High on Georgia? I thought many said he was not a take by them..? Don't see why he would bother the chance to go anywhere else but UT. Its' his home state, we have shown to have a run heavy offense, and he is going to be given a great opportunity to get some playing time. The only reason he would be holding back is to wait and see what Akers does. Nonetheless, I still expect him to pull the trigger once we start rolling past teams this season!

I was perusing through Facebook earlier tonight and caught a live Vols recruiting segment by Jesse someone from SEC country. Someone asked him about Ty Chandler to which he commented that he believed Chandler would possibly commit soon as opposed to waiting til NSD.

I have no idea whether he knows what he's talking about but I thought I would pass on! It is shown every Wed night! I enjoyed it myself...

Chandler needs to be our biggest target left in this class. Some could make the argument he isn't because there is still a possibility we can get Akers. I don't. Chandler is a home state talent at a position which we have produced quality players and have an opening for immediate playing time. UT has to be the ideal destination. If we miss on this, I will be stunned and would begin to seriously ask whether or not there are some hidden allegations being thrown UT's direction.

He'll commit in the next 1-2 weeks, count on it. MBA really "starts" their season next Friday against a powerhouse from Alabama, he might want to get it out of the way before then. Based on what I know, he's wanting to commit very soon i.e. like we wont be waiting long haha. Should get some good news.

👀 We're listening and will be looking for updates

Agree that he is the single biggest need left in this class as of today - and assuming Hurd and Kamara both opt to the NFL draft.

Uncle, brother, or cousin Chandler?

Uncle, brother, or cousin Chandler?

Hmmmm. 1988

If DOB, that would make them 27 or 28. Too young for a parent. Possible other family member.

If high school graduation year, that would make them approximately 46 or so. Prime age of a parent of a high school senior.
