Practice #4 Updates 8.4.16

Moseley always gets pics in practice. He is basically a fall camp all American. Seemed like he had one in like every practice last year. When he gets in the game he gets smoked though....That Deiter kid from Bowling Green put up like 200 yards on him. Pretty sure that kid transferred to Bama by the way.

Yea I think Perry is basically a walk on now trying to earn back his scholly but the way I understand it, he can't play this season. Is that correct?

I did spot big Tut jogging in front of the camera. Forgot how big a boy he is!

Fingers reigns supreme!
HardKnox for pres!
Thanks guys

Yes. Perry is academically ineligible for 2016 iirc.

Moseley's freshman year he played well. I think PFF had him graded as one of the best man cover corners that year. I believe the stat they used was Yards per cover snap. He was in the top 5 his freshman year. See below.

15. Emmanuel Moseley | CB | Tennessee Volunteers

2014 snaps: 370
2014 PFF rating: 76.6

Presented is a cornerback who fought his way through depth under a snap limitation that emerged in Knoxville, but Moseley amazingly did his work as a true freshman. Seriously, how much of an impact could an 18-year-old really have had in defensive coverage? He simply allowed a lower completion percentage (36.0 vs. 43.9), yards/coverage snap (0.66 vs. 0.68), and coverage snap/reception allowed (12.1 vs. 13.6) than Florida’s Vernon Hargreaves III. The sky is the limit for this sophomore out of Greensboro, North Carolina.

Got a few good ones today of Jalen. He's been doing one handed catching drills lately and literally grabbing all of the balls thrown to him.

That's going to be really beneficial when he switches over to TE. Isn't that still the master plan?

No one can make all the throws but lets hope this is not a familiar trend. At least work it out during fall practice.

Huh? Not a familiar trend?

I like Dobbs. He's a great leader. He's as good as they come as a student-athlete. He's one of the greatest running QB's to ever play at UT.

BUT..... him underthrowing receivers and particularly on vertical routes IS an all TOO familiar trend. I have no doubt at all that he has worked at it and continues to do so.... but the lack of an effective vertical game could be the difference in this season.

Yeah.... same kid smoked Sutton a couple of times too. I guess #7 must really suck, huh?

Both Moseley and Foreman improved a lot over the course of the season. The coaches to date seem to be counting on Moseley to play a critical role at CB if not start.

Oh.... Moseley, Foreman, and Sutton were the top three in passes defended last year.... in that order.

No.... no..... no. The experts here have spoken and EM sucks. Can't you read? Don't confuse settled issues by bringing up facts.

He hasn't been good on vertical routes, but him under throwing hasn't been a trend. Most of the passes he's missed (particularly deep ones) have been too high and/or too deep.

I thought, according to the VN experts, Richmond was a bust and we needed to send him packing and free up a scholly.

So let me get this straight.

Every single practice report thus far has talked about how much better Dobbs, the receivers, and the passing game looks so far in fall camp. Yet, it takes one play in one practice segment open to reporters to set you off?

Get yourself together dude. I bet Peyton Manning also missed a throw here or there in practice.

I agree, it's the third day of spring, relax

Just watched the UGA game again last night.... one pass in particular comes to mind. I think it was supposed to be a deep out.... it hit the ground at least 5 yards in front of the WR.

I remember several passes he threw short on vertical routes allowing them to be defended. Honestly.... I can't think of even one he over threw. And this of course takes in that he doesn't throw vertical often.... which is probably a statement on the coaches' confidence.

You mean the first day with live work.... and a pass that became a pick for UT's SENIOR QB with numerous starts? Not "set off" but NO.... that is NOT what we should expect.

Dobbs' problem isn't often throwing with no D.

It isn't spring. It is August and Dobbs isn't a new starter or underclassman. He's a senior who has worked on this part of his game for 4 years now.... and still can't throw vertical with acceptable consistency.

His mechanics are very average.
Not clean at all. He fights against his body a lot.

I just.... nevermind.

Sounds like the scout on Tebow. If we get the same results then I'm fine with it.

Except that Tebow had a rocket and was fairly accurate at all ranges. His wind up didn't hurt him much on the college level.

Sorry for the typo, but did you really expect him to come out slinging it around like Favre... some guys just can't consistently hit the deep ball... the first few days they said he was doing good, let's see how it is in Another week. Maybe the wrs are too fast lol

Lol, pretty much, difficult concept to grasp sometimes on good ol VN!
