Danielson: TN least ready to win tight games

Is Gary crazy or does he have a point? I think he may be right at least regarding our fans (not being ready to win tight games). If the UF game is close in the last few minutes of the fourth quarter the tension in Neyland will be intense.

The fans have absolutely to do with whether we win or lose a tight game. Completely irrelevant. Only the players and coaches can get it done.

If you didn't like this, I suggest you don't look at Lane Kiffin's twitter account.

....there will be a thread on it later.

I didn't know our fans immaturity cost us a 2 TD lead vs Oklahoma and Arky......wow

I also ran our 2 TD lead over OU in the 4th qtr last year through my Willy Wonka logical syllogism machine. The results came back which left me scratching my head as well. Basically it calculated our fan base logically had no impact on that loss for ANY reason much less their collective maturity level. It also kicked out that since Danielson decide to make an ad hominem again at the UT fan base turn about would be fair play, so Danielson is a douxxx & xxxxole. The machine cannot lie.

I have never liked these two as commentators, they get names wrong, they second guess penalties wrong, sometimes compare players wrong so on and so forth. On their own performance on TV...........not very good and 3rd Tier at best. If Tennessee breaks out, I foresee better or upper Tier announcers for Tennessee games.

Go Vols!!

Lol

Listen to Gary and Verne's commentary on the last play (and thereafter) of the UGA/TN game to see how they really feel about TN. Sounded like they were about to cry.

In fairness, no one knows how good Mizzou is or isn't yet; last year was a disaster with all of the distractions for them. I do think we are a much better team and would not expect the game to be very close in 4Q.

Bottom line is tight games are won with mental toughness and it is a fair point to make based on last year. I believe we will prove him wrong and wind the tight games but that is just me.

GoVols!

I think what he should have said is that "Tennessee fans are the least ready to lose tight games".

Crowd noise can hinder an offense from communicating properly. Also it can encourage a defense and it's possible a crowd of 100,000 can trigger an extra adrenaline surge where a diving player can hit the QB's foot and get the sack, rather than just diving at his feet over and over. Get fired up and make a play,

An experienced offense will not be impacted by crowd noise, but who wouldn't get pumped over the crowd going bananas to see a great defensive stop. Maybe it is just another day at the office.

Crowd noise is away to measure the passion of a fan base and that could sway a recruit's decision of which program to join.

1% here or there is all we need. So why down play the possible impact.

He's got a point. Battered Vol Syndrome still exists. Look how many UT fans are saying they won't believe UT can beat UF until they see it happen. And look how many are saying we'll go 9-3 or 10-2, because the team can't make it through that tough 4-game SEC stretch. UF and UGA fans seem far more confident than UT fans--- with far less reason.

Mizzou, though-- that's just crazy talk.

I hate it, but Danielson is some what right about us fans. When it comes to getting a W in the Gator game, ill believe it, when I see it.

How does a tn fan train to make sure the team wins in tight games?

I am serious....

How the hell Gary do I need to prepare?

Agree, it's a asinine argument. About as valid as the argument that negative message board posts affect recruiting, which a sizable portion of this board believes is true.

Hard to argue with the point about the coaches and players being the least ready to win a close game. Last year was first time since Fulmer that Vols had the talent to be in close games against good teams and they fell short in all but one (UGA). And the Vols really didn't close that one out either: (1) UGA dropped a sure TD (2) Vols failed to convert a first down to run out the clock. (3) UGA moved from the goal line to deep in Vols territory as time ran out.

Vols coaching staff needs to show they can make the right moves at crunch time and at some point, one of the players is going to have to step up and make a play when it's needed. One play made late in a game would have won the Oklahoma, Florida or Alabama games. Close isn't good enough.

Who the f*** thinks Missouri is going to win ANYTHING this year?

And to think, there are people that think this guy is a 'legendary' commentator. Always has been a complete tool.

Based on the teams experiences last year, I would say we may be the most prepared. When he mentioned Miz being a dark horse......he lost all credibility.

He was answering a question, so I'll pose the same to you and everyone here insulting that pick. Who is the dark horse to win the East this year? Pundits are split between UT, UGA, and UF so you can't pick one of them and have it still be a "dark horse". So do you pick Vandy, UK, SCAR, or Mizzou?

There is an option of picking none of the above.

I believe the SECE champ will be Tennessee, Georgia, or Florida. I don't see anyone else in the running.

I was at a game last year and on our final drive a player runs out on the field causing a 5 yard penalty now it's a 55 yard FG. Would we have made a 50 yd FG? Who knows we didn't get a shot at that one due to poor communication on the sidelines due to the crowd going bananas.

But who pays attention to false starts and forced timeouts, due to crowd noise?

If what you are saying is true then we have a completely inept coaching staff. Can't communicate because of crowd noise? Good grief dude.

LOL according to volnation posters there is no reason to play the season. We will just write down 50-0 for all the games this year and move on. Who needs to play games?

Nobody is going to give you this season and nobody is going to give you games guys. There will be tight hard fought last second games. You HAVE to have luck in a championship season. Things go wrong. Teams jump up and bite you in ass. If we lose one to a MIZZ or to Scarolina this clinically manic fan base will dismantle this program and blame everyone but themselves for it.
