Field Turf all the way.

Team is built on speed but we play in sand.

I hate turf! Have you watched games played on turf in the rain? The players get covered in specks of turf. It's gross. And there are health concerns of playing on turf long term.

We are built on speed, but we play on the same field as our opponent. A well done grass field is the way to go IMO.

I'm fairly traditional in all ways football, but that's one subject I definately changed my mind on. Field turf has come a LONG way. When I was a kid, I couldn't even stand watching a game on TV if it was played on turf. When UT changed back to grass, I was elated.

They have a machine that looks like a Zamboni in hockey now that lifts and cleans the rubber pellets. This almost 100 percent reduces the chances of MRSA.

Football now has a Zamboni? This is exciting. I felt like we were missing something. Zamboni it is!

MRSA is not my main concern. And there was game just last year that players were sliding around in the rain and were getting covered in the turf particles. I can't remember the game - seems like a Big 12 game like Texas Tech or Baylor.

I got MRSA playing basketball six or seven years ago. If you've had it before, it would certainly be a main concern.

It's not that big of a deal IMO. Players/coaches get used to it. It's hot but players & coaches on our team enjoyed it much more than traditional grass. Turf can be designed to look great, which is consistent year round. It's the sensible option for schools that can afford it. over the lifespan of the turf, schools save $ when compared to traditional field maintenance. For the articles that claim it causes cancer, there are also articles that dispute those claims.

Was also a big recruiting disadvantage back when we had the AstroTurf or whatever it was. Players weren't thrilled about leaving a layer of skin on the field after every game.

I do remember after Florida thumped us in the first game we played them after switching to grass, Spurrier said "I don't know why they switched, they were a great team on turf."

I took this picture last May at Specialist Camp right after they laid new sod. (Jr nailed that kick btw)

May very well be just the lighting, but this year's pic looks like a darker green, which hopefully means deep root structure.
