Not going to blast you. I just came in to inform you that we can no longer be friends, because I no longer like you. :p

Sorry Baldy. I don't know how much more balanced and honest I can be about it. Said he was very, very good...comolimented him on his strengths. I just just thought Jalen was gonna be a game breaker who, when given a step would never be caught from behind, a guy who could outrun an angle. IMHO, as good as he is, he's just not that guy.

Just giving an opinion. He's outstanding, just not quite what I thought he'd be.

Also, I'm out of eligibility and I got a bum knee....playing days are long over.

I wasn't trying to flame you. I do believe Hurd has lived up to his billing and surpassed it honestly. We thought we were getting a solid in-state RB. We did not think we were getting a Heisman candidate. I'm not sure what he could have done better to this point, you know?

Basically you want Eddie George and Reggie Bush (college version) rolled into one player?

I think where you messed up was that you "comolimented him". Had you actually "complimented him", people may have taken it differently. :)

You and I don't always see eye to eye on things, but I have never thought of you as a negavol.

Maybe a moron, but negavol, no way. :eek:lol:

j/k KB. You've always been good in my eyes.

Sure I'll get blasted by some on here, but I don't think Hurd has lived up to the billing. He was touted as having 4.37 breakaway speed. He ran for 3,300+ yards as a junior and ran for nearly 400 yards in a state championship game. I thought we were getting 6'4" freak with world class burst and speed that could take one to the house on any given play, from anywhere on the field. That's just not quite what Jalen is though.

He's very, very good, and I'm very glad he's a Vol, will hate it when he moves on to the NFL. The kid is a warrior, he's a beast, he can do a whole lot of things (running, receiving, pass pro) at a very high level. But in all honesty, he is not quite as good as good as I thought he'd be.

Like yourself, I was expecting a Marcus Dupree type of talent - big enough to be a DE but still the fastest guy on the field.

Like yourself, I also recognize JH's many talents - just doesn't appear to be a 4.3 type guy. Very few 230-240 lb guys ever have.

I did. I absolutely thought we were getting a Heisman candidate. I thought we were getting way more than a solid in-state RB. I honestly thought we were getting a transformational, Eric Dickerson 2.0. Guess my expectations were a little high.

But again, please just don't read my first paragraph, also read the second. I think Hurd is an exceptional college football running back, does some great things, is one of the very best in the country. As a fan I'll be forever indebted to him for choosing Tennessee and helping get us back to relevance and prominence. I just honestly thought we were getting the Jalen we have now PLUS the breakaway, game breaking ability that all the elite RBs have, which in my mind, is the only thing that keeps him from belonging in that club.

Jalen Hurd is the perfect combination of size and speed IMO. He might not have blazing speed as a smaller back has but he also isn't fragile. He takes and gives punishment and seems to enjoy it. I wouldn't trade him for another back in the country. He will be sorely missed when he leaves. The only thing he could improve on is his wiggle. He doesn't often try to make a defender miss. Maybe he has some of that wiggle but he prefers to punish the defender? Sometimes for his own sake I wish he'd just run out of bounds. I love the dude and I'm so proud he's a Vol.

I actually agree with you.

Agree. As great as he is, I think he's still a notch below elite, which is what I thought he'd be.

Anywho, apologies for derailing Trey's thread.

Lol....I really do too. JH is a great RB, who will play in the NFL, but I really was expecting more.

I'm sure that probably falls more on our expectations than it really does on Jalen's talent, but it doesn't change what I was expecting.

Still....I am more than happy and proud to have him on our team and am glad he is a VFL.

She's a 9.9 after we got home. In the grocery store from a distance I thought she was a 10.

Don't get me wrong she'll do and is better looking than anything I've had in a long long time but still she's not the 10 I thought she was and in that I can't hide my disappointment even though when we met I was only a 7 and not the 10 I was many years ago

Weirdly accurate.

Me, too. You still hate me? 😳😕

All football teams will wear Alabama jerseys, all basketball teams will wear Kentucky jerseys.

Brutal deal, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

This isn't too far from the truth, especially when the head of football officials is a Bama grad and lives in Birmingham, and the most recent head of basketball officials was a UK grad who lives in Lexington. Not making this up.

The head of basketball just resigned in June and has been replaced by Mark Whitehead, who didn't graduate from an SEC school. So, maybe that's a start.

Lot of elite NFL running backs didn't have that breakaway gear. Top two rushers in NFL history (Emmitt and Walter) and I'd say Jim Brown also but hard to tell when he was a man among lesser men. Terrell Davis et al. I think in a downhill running scheme Hurd would show a little more burst. Eric Dickerson himself might have had a slow initial burst out of the spread.
