Don't want to wander too far into a faith discussion, but there do seem to be some faith themes at work during this recruiting cycle. If I were a minister...looking at you Ulysees...I would definitely be spending some time checking out my motivations.

The first theme I see is "hope deferred makes a heart sick", which simply means that when we see something within our grasp and then have it taken away, it tends to mess us up. Pretty evident that is going on with some people here, and it's making some folk downright mean.

The second theme I see is a bit darker. The more messed up we get from having our hope deferred, the greater the likelihood our hope was in something that has become an obsession to us. Nothing tends to piss us off more than when our idols fail us. That's not healthy.

Brother..you know nothing about me other than interaction on a football discussion website. I am really tired of having this threw in my face however. Have a nice day VolNation. :)

Wow - this "Ignore" feature is really cool. I just missed 4 posts of misery right before Doc's.

August is nearly here. NFL has gone back to work. My golf game is good. Things are looking up even with the sky is falling predictions on recruiting.

I have the same four ignored posts. It is grand isn't it.

I don't mind having discussions and people having differences of opinions, but i'll be damned if I have to put up with sheer stupidity. I used to say that I didn't like putting people on ignore.

I was wrong.

Nope, I don't. Sounds like I touched a nerve though, which kinda proves the point. For what it's worth, I was just sharing my own lesson, and although I mentioned you, it was not directed specifically at you.

Oklahoma game on ESPNU. If we had just scored something on that first drive of the third quarter we would have won

Hurd's fumble hurt big time. As did Ellis letting the sure TD pass sail right through his hands. And Mayfield escaping Barnett's grasp by a millimeter about 10 times.

And Martin missing knocking down the pass to Perine in the end zone by a millimeter as well. We were sooooooo close to winning that game in so many ways. Everything went right for OU, everything went wrong for the good guys.

Here is the part where I do the turn the other cheek thing...

Martin came off his man trying to make that play too. Should've never left the field after being put in. Smh

Martin and Sutton are the best CB random in the country and by the end of the year Martin will surpass Sutton.

I don't know about that. Cam will have the ball kept away from him quite often so Martin will have more chances but while Martin is really good I don't see him passing Sutton as being the better player.

Agreed

Where we Differ is what the kids are told. IMO they are told keep their nose clean and on top of their academics with those being the only conditions to their commitment

The way this latest commitment of Lewis went down proves that if the coaches were going to take a conditional commitment why not take his commitment sooner? I mean they told him what he needed to improve on. They told him they needed to evaluate more QBs. Why not take his commitment with those conditions sooner?

I am actually glad you pulled my sting on this Because this so much shows a clear level of the conditions that went into this kid getting an offer with no mention of what he has to do next to keep his offer.

This kid is actively recruiting for on on twitter while we have fans suggesting he was only taken because of good news we got from a 2018QB(invol how did that turn out?) and the conditions he must follow to stay committed.

Some of you guys will do anything to think all this recruiting thing is is sunshine and ice tea without any "games" being played. I choose to believe recruiting is a "dirty" game where lies are told all the time to achieve a goal and that doesn't change the fact that I wouldn't trade cbj for anyone right now

The difference is many of fully admit that we are speculating where you talk as if you know this stuff as factual. You are just pulling ish out of your ass like the rest of us. Many of us choose to believe that Butch is honest with these kids where you choose to believe he's deceitful. I like my way of thinking and you keep on keeping on thinking the way you do.

Once you just accept the fact that he rarely, if ever, has any idea what he's talking about and just likes exercising his fingers, it's easier to deal with.

I like to think of Bruin like that crazy uncle every family has Thanksgiving who rants and raves the whole time. Sure, he's half senile and listening to him ramble is grating. But he's good at heart, mostly harmless, and he's one of us. So it's better just to let him do his thing without comment unless you want to derail thanksgiving dinner for the whole family.
