This roster is built for sustained success. Even if we only won 9 games this year, there is still a very good chance we win 9 more in 2017, in our rebuilding year. We have guys all over the field ready to step up when the others get drafted. By 2018 we could very well have a better group of starters than we have now.

LOL. No.
The 2016 class and the 2017 class (so far) are subpar. They are not national title caliber. Top 5 classes are national title caliber.
If we don't win at least the SEC championship in 2016, this program will go right back to the bottom. We need to capitalize on this year. Its the best shot we'll ever have to building a consistent winner.
I completely agree. That's why I'm not too worried about the star-power of this class. Even if we're all settled, which we're not, these guys are all likely to redshirt or see significant weightroom time before they ever hit the field.
If they're coachable, contribute positively to the character of the program, and provide quality depth down the line with many/most providing valuable snaps down the road, then we'll be good.
I think Butch telling around 10 of our 3* commits to kick it is exactly what's about to happen.
Do what? So, just let Butch tell about 10 3* commits to hit the road? Do you know what type of message that would send to all future recruits? Why should Butch let any of them go? We have what 5-6 scholarships left for 2017?
Let's just get the best players we can out of those scholarships left? That sound better! No need for Butch to create a firestorm by letting 3* recruits go. That's not right!
Very tragic & sad. Prayers for the families involved.
I agree it's not right. That is what has played out in each of the last 3 classes. Its not been 8-10, but they have never had 22-24 in July either. Most seem to think it's going to be a top 5-10 class. For that to happen, its going to get ugly.
Well, right now we're 9th on composite ranking nationally from 247 Sports which is the only source I use for rankings. We have ~5 scholarships left for 2017.
It's possible we could end up in the top 5 but that would also mean we would almost guarantee needing at least two 4* players & maybe even one 5* one too.
Can't sign anymore 3* players if we want to make a jump in the team recruit rankings for 2017 unless we definitely get one-two 5* players as well..
