I get the feeling the plan is to redshirt Alexis Johnson and then have him for 2017 and 2018. One reason is I believe he was placed on diversion for his case, which allows him to get it dismissed. But, I thought I saw the date for that to happen is in October. I don't think they will let him play until then, and I think it's best to save him since he wouldn't be in playing shape anyway.

Sounds similar to the last thing I read about the situation as well.

A little news from John Brice over at 24/7

"We noted Emory Jones coming into Knoxville, and I wouldn't expect that to be the only major target the Vols entertain in the next 48-72 hours. I think Ryan is working on another major target expected in by this weekend."

After being quiet in recent months, it looks like the QB recruiting could soon be a source of good news. There are several QBs expected in today's camp besides Jones, and I wouldn't be surprised if someone commits.

That could be a win/win for all concerned. Hope it works out for him.

If Kyle Phillips has a breakout season, QB's won't be able to stay upright.

Barnett, Vereen, Kongbo, Phillips with guys like Kirkland, JRM, and Taylor blitzing ...
.

By halftime, opposing QBs gonna be like:

I still can't believe my eyes when I look at the Team 120 roster. The talent and depth is just amazing. It's great how far we've come since the vacuum of a roster CBJ inherited. In so many positions, we have 3-deep of legit SEC caliber talent. With the exception of DT, we are in excellent shape for 2016. Even the DT depth can be bolstered by DEs who can move inside given certain down and distance situations. 10 days till start of camp. Can't wait!!!

One more thought. Wonder if Alexis Johnson will be cleared in time to play this season. Hope so.
I actually think it's better if Johnson takes a RS this year after not taking any HS DTs last year

John Brice just said he was told by someone on campus that Tyler Byrd is talented enough to start on either side of the ball right now

Top247 senior safety Jaylen Kelly-Powell of Cass Technical High School in Detroit posted on his Twitter account Thursday that he has arrived on Tennessee's campus for the Vols' final camp of the summer.

"Tennessee. Always love coming here. #Vols," he tweeted.

The 6-foot, 175-pound Kelly-Powell has received scholarship offers from more than 40 teams, including Tennessee. He's ranked the nation's No. 259 overall prospect and No. 20 safety in the 247Sports Composite for the 2017 class. He's also ranked by 247Sports as the nation's No. 144 overall player and No. 16 safety in the 2017 class.

Interesting seeing the PR push going on for houston to the big12 right now. A number of people are endorsing them.

Funniest tweet I saw said Ted Cruz was set to endorse them later tonight

This kid just jumps off the screen when watching a game. He was a real standout in his AA game.

I remember I had that game on while I was doing other things around the house. I kept looking up and it was this Tyler Byrd kid making one play after another. Remember he held up the "U" hand sign after he scored. Little did they know...

Could be a bump up enough for the program to keep Tom Herman. Extra Big 12 money and a chance to make his own unique legacy. Bonus that he has an affinity for coaching in Texas.
