K Mac Savage mode video

Kid will be a beast this year. He has the talent and has slimmed down and as we see in this video, really really strong.

KMac should be significantly better this season. He was a summer arrival and hadn't played football since his junior year of high school. Had some bad weight and poor conditioning. Now he will have a full fall, spring, and summer to learn the playbook, get his diet right, get fully into the strength and conditioning program, etc. Plus, he has had the chance to learn from the veterans on the DL and has some valuable in-game SEC experience under his belt.

Good post. With lack of depth at DT, conditioning will be key. Don't have the bodies to constantly rotate without a drop off in talent.

Hmmmmmmm that one is hard to believe

Why? I lifted a lot and was a good athlete. Still am. At 50, and focusing on endurance sports at 180 lbs, I still incline 215 for 6 reps. Not everyone is a weakling. My max squat was 345 for 5 reps.. I'm sure KM squats close to 500.

This is true. When I was 20, nearly 20 years ago...see that mountain over there? I could throw a football clear across that mtn.

Now? TENDONITIS.

Not to discount that achievement. But, isnt there a thing where youre supposed ti be able to naturally lift a certain amount if weight vs your bodies own weight. KMAC weighs 320-345 and he lifted 315?

I hope he plays like a savage this year. Also hoping Tuttle is back to full speed, healthy and breathing fire for the GA game.

Correct in that he didnt make that many big plays. I think it had more to do with hm not playing his senior year. So we could think of last year as his SR year and this year he is a true freshman. He came here with monumental expectations that he may or may not be able to live up to. I do think he and Tuttle will be a force in the middle this year.

We are in agreement. He had near impossible expectations to live up to. KMac will be just fine.
I could not imaging going from high school to SEC. Different worlds.

good weight numbers dont translate necessarily to good athlete. youre lucky you can still walk if squatting that kind of weight ar 50.

I have seen this first hand. It is very, very true. Some guys are weight room heroes that could not break an egg with pads on. They look good during warm ups and then stand on the sideline while the others play.

I believe you. I spend plenty of time lifting in the gym. I am tall with long arms and legs, so obviously I can't lift a ton of weight. I am happy to be able to rep 225, which a lot of people out there can not do. A few People with different builds than me seem to have little trouble doing higher weights than that.

As for the OP though.....315 is a hell of a lot of weight on the incline. Makes me nervous. I know people who have torn pectorials and deltoids doing things like that.

Thats pretty impressive. Some people are just Naturally strong. Sounds like you might be that kind of guy. I've benched 315 for three reps, squat 405 for two and deadlift 510 for a single but I'm 6'4 295 lbs. so sounds like your a naturally strong guy.

No, no. Not squatting that weight now. That was at 20. Don't squat anymore. Lunges for this old guy. And I have zero knee problems.

Do you have some eligibility left? Damn, never reached those kind of numbers. My best dead lift was 365. Thru my twenties I transitioned into endurance training. I'm glad I did. I have no joint problems.

I can attest to this from wrestling. I could out lift a couple of guys on my team but when it came to mat strength they were in a different league and it was easy to feel. I assume ol vs. dl is much the same.

How much are the Vols counting on K Mac this year, how much will his play dictate the success of the Vols?
Questions that will soon be answered...
Go Vols

How well and how much he plays will be a major factor in how the defense performs. During media days Butch said Tuttle will be at 50-75% when fall practice starts. With Shy not being close to 100% and Johnson probably suspended for the important half of our season, we don't have much SEC talent at D tackle. I hate to say it but the interior of our D line will probably be our most glaring weakness outside of the passing game

But can you lift the front end of a car and turn it around?

i dont do any leg workouts. not after elbow and biceps tendonitis. i started feeling scraping in my knees and i said to hell with this. I see absolutely 0 value in weight training legs. do tons of low impact cardio and running. supplement low weight high reps for upper body stuff.

funny spent all those years trying to get big. now id do anythi g to be skinny. lots of men's health docs saying our bodies are only meant to carry so much weight naturally, and actually men who carry lots of muscle mass are unhealthy.
