Florida players are unusually loud this year at SECMD

Honestly, SEC MD are always a clown show but I have noticed that even more so than usual Florida seems to be taking even more shots at Tennessee.

Obviously, they have had our number for 11 years now and I have been pretty outspoken that they have no reason to be nervous. However, it seems like Florida is going out of their way, more so than usual, to take shots at UT when they can.

Jarrad Davis: "Tennessee is always one of the funnest games of the year. Because we win." (Nice English!)

Jalen Tabor: "12 in a row against the Vols? No doubt."

I'm starting to be converted that maybe Florida is actually more nervous this year than I thought. Haven't seen this much trash talk from them consistently in years.

I didn't think Tabor was at SEC media days. He wasn't listed as one of the three players to go. Did he tweet that or did the line up change

Our guys haven't taken the podium yet. I hope they decide not to talk much smack. If UF thinks that works for them, fine. They have every right to talk. Even at Colorado State I thought Mcelwain seemed to let the inmates run the asylum. I just want to see UT beat UF again in my lifetime. Please.

I'm obviously biased but I can't remember any team member at UT that ran their mouths, except maybe Kelly Washington.

Mac not giving encouragement regarding Callaway is encouraging to Vol fans.

He said he's still indefinitely suspended. It looks like the guy is going to miss fall camp. He hasn't had one rep w his new QB

Why should they be scared? Won 11!in a row and in probably half those we had the better team. I wouldn't be afraid of us either if I was in their shoes

Just something to keep in mind folks - Yes McElwain's team looked like crap the second half of the year. But don't forget why. That team only had two QBs last season (they had a third guy who could play in a disaster scenario but had taken reps all fall at WR) and the one that didn't start the first 5 games was not very good.

That UF team last year was in worse shape than you realize.

I think they were in worse shape than you realize if you just want to lay that mess all in the lap of Treon Harris.

Let's look at that rushing game at the end of the year:

vs Vanderbilt, Florida had 34 attempts for 93 yards (2.7 yards per carry)
vs Florida Atlantic, Florida had 44 attempts for 130 yards (3.0 yards per carry)
vs Alabama, Florida had 21 attempts for 15 yards (0.7 yards per carry)

Now, how about that supposedly great defense of yours?

Michigan had 503 yards of total offense vs Florida (225 yards rushing and 278 yards passing)

The clock is ticking. They know the streak ends this year, talk it up, then get blasted.

Go Vols!

its simply the fact that we are a competitive team now which makes it more fun to trash talk, you cant trash talk a down team, thats like making fun of a retarded kid.

They know we are back and want to renew the great rivalry

can you imagine the bulletin board material that would have come from SEC media days if Butch took Preston Williams, Kongbo, and Khalil? It would have been entertaining lol

IMO, it's not fear; it's pure arrogance. They think they own us. We're their Kentucky. Sucks, but that's how they feel, and their coaches make sure they feel that way.

Nope. We don't talk about Kentucky or Vandy.

Its fear. And for good reason. They're going to get crushed Sept 24.

Their coach is confidant and has that swagger about him, his players feed off of it. Before the game last year he was asked how much it would affect the team with so many young guys starting. He said the country would be watching and this is their time to shine. When Butch was asked more or less the same question he just talked about how many of our players had never flown on a plane before. Difference between confidence and trying to lower the expectations

Truth.

Hate to say it but McElwein is 10x better than Butch Jones as a coach.

And it's entirely based on swagger and confidence.

I hate how Butch Jones downplays expectations at every turn and heaps praise on the opponent.

I like my coach to heap praise on our team and have confidence against EVERY opponent.

And how has that changed for this year? The confidence from UF fans in Del Rio based on a spring game is comical. Lots of scheming and blitzing I'm sure went into that game. Whole lot of faith being put in a guy that couldn't crack the depth chart at Bama and Oregon State

LOL. No.

In the last 11 years, Tennessee has only been favored THREE times.

2005
2014 (-1)
2015 (-1)

In the last 2 years, we were 1 point favorites in each game. We lost by 1 point each game.

Vegas has been right on the money the last 10 years if you give them a 2-3 point margin of error.

This year we're 12 point favorites. This is the first year since 2005 you can say we are clear favorites.

If it's not fear, then it's anxiety. They keep talking about how they will win in an attempt to convince themselves. The beauty of it, our players know too. We took it to every team last year and then would sputter, that won't happen this year, and our team knows what's gonna happen.

Kongbo did his homework and came to Tn to win a NC.

See you in Tampa.

I live in Florida and can tell you with complete certainty that Florida fans are without question the most pompous prick heads I've ever been around!
Because of them my hatred of all things uf has now surpassed even bama!

That is all

I was under the impression it was draft picks. I thought that was the reason we had lost the past few years.

Truth.

Hate to say it but

If you hate to say it, then don't say it.

10X? So what if we stomp Florida? What does that say about McElwain that he gets beaten by a man that has 1/10th of his ability. Pretty much paints him as a coach that must really stink.

OK, I bit.. Promised myself I wouldn't..

I hope players address it in a way they don't really address it if that makes sense? We have three senior leaders there and they are focused even at media days to not get caught up in the trash talking.

I do hope that there is a ton of trash talking on the field though. I want Hurd running over people and just standing over them, I want JRM to celebrate multiple sacks while the QB peels himself off the ground. I want Evan Berry to Deion Sanders high step into the endzone after returning a KO for a td!
