Florida players are unusually loud this year at SECMD

I wouldn't go that far. We beat Vandy like a red headed stepchild quite regularly. You don't see UT players going into the Media Days running their mouth about it. Kentucky has a completely dismal performance against UT. But again, Tennessee has class about it and doesn't say a word.

No, I can blame them all day long. It's called arrogance and it'll be nice to watch the Vols wipe the smugness off their faces.

Probably because they'd get laughed at if they did brag about beating Vandy and Kentucky.

Oh, I disagree with that. There wasn't a closer series in the SEC from 1998-2006 than Tenn/Fla. Also, since 1998 there have been 3 games decided by one point (most of any series in the SEC) and 7 games decided by 3 points or less (also most of any series in the SEC).

Yeah you can look at it that way.

You can also look at it like since the divisional split and we started playing every year, Florida has a 20-5 record against us, with winning the last 11.

Depending on what side of 20-5 you're on probably determines how much you consider it a rivalry. It also doesn't help that before the split, the teams rarely played, so there isn't a deep rooted tradition like Alabama.

I've noticed even some of our esteemed rival
guests seem a little testy these days.
That makes me smile.

We need another 2001 Travis Stephens type of game from Hurd, except the score needs to be a little more lopsided.

I will tell you all what is going on here.

These guys are basically tired of hearing they are going to suck.

To add insult to injury, where are a lot of people showing their love. To Tennessee. To a school they've beaten 11 years in a row.

It's the age old disrespect stuff.

I will tell you that they've been fed this all offseason.

Maybe your team is made up of wussies who can't seem to handle any kind of negative expectation. Do you see Hurd or Dobbs making negative comments about Florida players? No cause maybe they're more focused about winning this season and spending a little less time trying to get under Florida's players skin. So quit your b*tching.

It could just be my hate of all things Florida as well.

But either way, as CBJ put it to another player, "have some damn class."

Butch was just crying after he got beaten up and his lunch money stolen. If he wanted to shut him up he would have gone for the TD instead of coaching like he lost sack

Our guys haven't taken the podium yet. I hope they decide not to talk much smack. If UF thinks that works for them, fine. They have every right to talk. Even at Colorado State I thought Mcelwain seemed to let the inmates run the asylum. I just want to see UT beat UF again in my lifetime. Please.

Agree. It's also a reflection on the coach. I'm proud of how our players address the media and the respect they show toward other teams. My impression of McElwain is that he is classless because his players certainly are.

Their coach is confidant and has that swagger about him, his players feed off of it. Before the game last year he was asked how much it would affect the team with so many young guys starting. He said the country would be watching and this is their time to shine. When Butch was asked more or less the same question he just talked about how many of our players had never flown on a plane before. Difference between confidence and trying to lower the expectations

If we want them to shut up, then do it on the field. Till then, they will talk smack and over the past 11 years, they have been the ones to back up the smack talk.

So, let's just shut them up on the field and let the final score do the talking.

We are not FL biggest rivalry, that would be GA. And FL is not ours, AL is, and until they screw up that series, it always will be.

I am not complaining. I am explaining.

I'm giving what I believe is the reason for them being so mouthy. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, good or bad, whatever.

I think the concussion Jarrad suffered against Michigan seems to have not healed completely.

As for Tabor, he's always been a moron.

Honestly, SEC MD are always a clown show but I have noticed that even more so than usual Florida seems to be taking even more shots at Tennessee.

Obviously, they have had our number for 11 years now and I have been pretty outspoken that they have no reason to be nervous. However, it seems like Florida is going out of their way, more so than usual, to take shots at UT when they can.

Jarrad Davis: "Tennessee is always one of the funnest games of the year. Because we win." (Nice English!)

Jalen Tabor: "12 in a row against the Vols? No doubt."

I'm starting to be converted that maybe Florida is actually more nervous this year than I thought. Haven't seen this much trash talk from them consistently in years.

Ignore them until we beat 'em. Then ignore them afterwards all the way to Atlanta and maybe beyond.

Tell you the truth is like to hear our players talking a lot more ch. who cares if we haven't won. I know we are going to this year and I want to hear our players know too.

Does McElwain come off as unintelligent? It may also be he's a little pompous?

I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's bordering the same Dooley/Kiffin line. Obviously, McElwain wins though.
Comes from western US. They are more laid back than easterners. Trust me. He's smart.

They have a chance that only 1 other team has had in the history of Vol football. 12 in a row, it's never been done, so yeah they are talking some trash. And they know they are about to crash and burn.

Also it is not your imagination. They are Skeert of Team #120. And for good reason. Can't wait for Hurd to meet a certain DB in the secondary.

Just something to keep in mind folks - Yes McElwain's team looked like crap the second half of the year. But don't forget why. That team only had two QBs last season (they had a third guy who could play in a disaster scenario but had taken reps all fall at WR) and the one that didn't start the first 5 games was not very good.

That UF team last year was in worse shape than you realize.

So what happens if Del Rio gets hurt or isn't good?
