Anybody who didn't like last years class is crazy. Vols got the best QB in the country, signed quite possibly the best DB and WR class in the country, and picked up an immediate help with Kongbo. The only reason the class wasn't top 10 is because they chose Tatum and Niehaus over Dickerson. Those two guys are great long term prospects with great size. They'll develop into great players imo. I loved last years class. I trust Butch on this class as well.

Nice post. Anyone questioning Butch Jones' recruiting at TN up to this point is nuts. In game coaching, which is another issue, showed improvement the 2nd 1/2 of last season. Ultimately, Butch will do just fine. His willingness to part from stability and go after Shoop show's he is willing to be aggressive and wants to win just as badly as the rest of Volnation.

As far as Higgins goes who knows. It appears he intentionally tried to mislead people by naming TN his leader in late May/early June but he is JUST one recruit. If Higgins cannot see the difference between Hunter Johnson and JG then so be it.

Ultimately, I believe this class will rank respectably in the top 15, possibly top 10 coming signing day 2017.

GO VOLS!!!

Nice rankings cherry pickings. He was the third ranked player in the composite state rankings, with offers from auburn, LSU, Florida, Ohio St, etc. this wasn't evaluation Magic by any means. So no, he's not right.

And the criticism he got as to technique is not really germane to this discussion, as he was certainly was not some diamond in the rough. What he has done since he got to campus has fleshed itself out with regard to where he plays.

I don't look at all rankings. I have been following Rivals for years. I don't "cherry pick" because I don't look at others.

You can disagree, but there was certainly some criticism about automatically taking Bituli as a LB. Not sure how important he was to those other schools you listed. Not trying to start anything but there was some truth to what he said.

GFW probably ticked at the Higgins situation, as well as the freak out here on the forums. Don't blame him

Wasn't he the top or one of the top prospects in the state last year, with a bevy of P5 offers? Probably not the best example for your snark.

Gosh, thanks for setting me straight. I realize he was a top recruit eventho some of the self appointed VN gurus decided he wasn't good enough. I assumed CBJ wouldn't use a scholarship if he didn't deserve it. I hope the kid is All-American and goes to the NFL if that's what he wants. Glad you're patroling the net making the world safe from snark. If your snark sensitive, don't get on this site.

I agree.
You get info, I imagine you get personally invested. Add the backlash of fanatics feeling betrayed.. week in Vegas time.
Of course I can justify Vegas over a messed up resteraunt order so, nm.

Man, Georgia is getting some hypeeeee leading into camp...

While I don't think it will happen, it would be very disheartening if Smart/Eason end up being great in year one AND McElwain cruises to another 9-10 win season.

My hope is that Smart has some serious growing pains as a coach, Eason is clearly a year away, and McElwain begins a slow descent due to losing all of Muschamp's players on defense over the next two seasons.

Speaking of Muschamp--I actually think South Carolina hiring him was a decent move, especially if he can recruit defensive talent.

Best case scenario is he succeeds and stays there. Worst case scenario is he fails and leaves the next guy with a stocked cupboard on defense. And finding guys who can run high-octane offenses is easy. Building defense is the hard part, IMO.

I think Chaney and Pittman were good hires for Georgia. I don't know what to think of Kirby, at all, but I hope we leave no doubt in that game.
