Honestly, I was about to drop maybe five either five or four but someone told me to just go ahead and do eight right now, so I was like, OK. Ill just go ahead and do eight right now, said Allen, whos ranked the nations No. 359 overall prospect and No. 22 weakside defensive end in the 247Sports Composite for the 2017 class. (My leader is) pretty obvious in my mind right now. But Im not saying something right now until after everything is over and done with. Ill give other teams a chance.
Tennessee on Saturday for the third time in a little more than three months, and he said he enjoyed spending time with the Vols coaches and some of their current players during a laid-back day of fun and games.
It was good. I liked it, he said. I guess theme-wise it was about the same (as previous visits). But it was a different vibe. The first time, it seemed like it was a few selected players and the coaches and family and all that stuff. But this time it was everyone. You got a more true vibe of the Tennessee football family and all that stuff, and thats real good to see.
Tennessee coach Butch Jones, defensive coordinator Bob Shoop, defensive line coach Steve Stripling and defensive graduate assistant Nathan Ollie all talked with Allen during the visit, along with Vols sophomore defensive end Austin Smith, a fellow native of Buford, Ga.
Since he came from Buford and all that stuff, we were all chilling pretty much the whole day, Allen said. I didnt know him (before). But I got to know him a little bit.
Tennessee treats their players good. The way they recruit their players and the way that they coach their players, its the same, he said. They say the way they treat you as a recruit, once you commit to them and join the team, that whole vibe doesnt change. Whatever they say, theyll do. Thats what Austin told me. He said theyre real good to you, and then the Vol For Life team once you leave, its real good.
want to commit after the five official visits, just because it looks good, Allen said. A few coaches were talking about how players that commit to them and still take their official visits means to them that their mind is still open for their recruitment. So I might just take my five and then commit. I dont know.
I might just do that, just to go see the other schools.
