Wouldn't a thumbs down be a count a troll would want more of?

I don't see how that would help. Seems the opposite to me

Maybe if you get enough thumbs downs you lose posting privileges?

Of, if a particular poster gives you a bunch of thumbs downs you automatically move to that person's ignore list.

I don't get the whole notion of "Just win" and everything will be okay. A lot of these top guys are committing in the next few months.

Commitments aren't contractual obligations. We'll get a lot of guys to flip to us when we prove we're legit.

On VQ Hubbs says that Georgia has momentum with Gibbs.

Give reasons why he thinks that?

Gibbs doesn't seem to be in a hurry to commit. We have a big year, Georgia doesn't, we land him IMO. They may have more momentum than they had before, but I don't think that means they lead either.

TBH, the best we can hope for right now is for our top targets to hold off and let the season play out some. Win the East and look good doing it, and we'll be alright. It's a put up or shut up year for our Vols, so our chances are better if a lot of these guys elect to wait.

Kids follow the trends. Clemson and UGA are hauling in elite recruits and others want to hop on board and be part of it. It's the "me, too" mentality.

Kirby is selling what CBJ successfully peddled for two years-- change and hope. New coach, fired-up fanbase, the promise of better results. UGA wants to keep their top in-state recruits-- just like UT does.

very true. all that is accurate. But what happens when ol Kirby loses the opener? which could very well happen at this point

We'll all be loving Carolina blue opening day. But right now, Kirby's spinning a good story and recruits are buying it. The longer Gibbs waits to commit, the better our chances, IMO.

Ehh, I'll be loving Auburn colors that day.

We are projected to be a top 10 team this year.

This is the best Vols team in 10+ years.

We have tons of hype coming in to the season.

We are SEC East favorites.

...and suddenly recruiting takes a sharp turn downward. It doesn't make sense to me. Odd...

This is by far the strangest year in recruiting under Butch. However, he has shown the ability to go out and get guys late such as Phillips, DKjr, Byrd, Kongbo and Richmond. Maybe that happens again. I still believe that if he does what he is supposed to this year and competes for a championship he'll be able to get the recruits. Clemson is recruiting successfully because they were in the playoffs last year.

That's why IMO the downturn has nothing to do with on the field stuff. Something else causing top recruits to look elsewhere.

I agree Catbone- it is maddening to understand. This lawsuit must be making more of an impact than we think. And elite players want to play with elite players which we only have 1 in this class. Just waiting for Clemson to come calling for him, hope he's solid.

You could make the argument that some recruits are questioning the hype. Until we start winning this year, people will look at our losses last year. If that's what is happening, it will change after the season starts and the pretenders and the contenders are sorted out.

I would argue that we have more than one. Crosby and Gray are both elite. They may be 3 stars, but Henderson, Labruzza, Bumphus and others are elite imo. We just don't have the star power right now
