I am just glad he was an EE and is now a sophomore. We are in about as good of shape as one could hope for with QD as the backup QB.

let's be serious, QD's arm talent is the asset that surpasses Dobbs. I think if QD had to take over the starting offense, then we would give our pass catchers the most opportunity in making plays. The biggest knack against Dobbs (like we have all seen and heard previously) is his lack of accuracy and consistency in throwing the ball down the field. QD's arm > Dobbs arm. One ? if QD has to start is lack of experience.

I think QD will be a good QB in time but Based on what we have seen to this point, how can you honestly say QD'S arm talent surpasses Dobbs? Of course Dobbs needs to improve but don't forget we are more of a contender with Dobbs instead of QD as of right now. Also, I do not recall seeing QD throwing for 300 yards to beat UGA down 24-3 either.

Heh, yeah, probably. :)

I've had a few Army peers over the decades who used that "inspirational" quote regularly. Even one boss who used it a couple of times. Always struck me as roughly the stupidest thing one could say to inspire others.

And I would bet at least some of them had no idea where it came from. They probably thought they were quoting Patton or MacArthur. :)

I have complete confidence in Dormady. Now, if he was a freshman, then I would be worried. But, he isn't, and he got some time last season.

In fact, I believe we could still win it all with Dormady.

In practice, maybe.

I'm a bit confused where all this confidence in Dormady comes from. He's thrown a couple of passes against what amounts to some bible schools and all of the sudden he'd be capable of coming in and keeping the offense going if Dobbs got hurt?

I mean, if Dobbs were to get hurt I hope that's the case, but acting as if he could without a doubt? Uh..I want whatever you people who say that are smoking.

I think he would do better than Dobbs did in the exact situation 2 years ago... To clarify he would do better than soph. Dobbs.

In mop up duty QD has a lower passing % than Dobbs against the first teamers we face.
Yet some of you act like he's the next Peyton. I like QD and hope he is the best ever.
Dobbs will finish his career in the top 5 all time at UT. Why can't y'all give the guy the credit he has earned.

Also Dobbs has done this in a run first offense which makes it even more impressive. Instead of looking for any and all negative about Josh, why can't we appreciate the great things he's accomplished?

i feel like we have as deep and strong of a qb lineup as you could want. between the 3 guys we have theres too much talent for someone to not step up and be successful if dobbs were to go down. i think jones could plug and play pretty well too, from what ive seen hes a solid runner with great touch. doesnt have a cannon but could dink and dunk very very well.

The factor I believe is the biggest to his success for us if he were to come in, is pass protection. Dobbs made our line look better than they actually were. Teams have to respect Dobbs running abilities so it opens up better passing opportunities (whether or not we capitalized on them). QD wouldn't be respected as much running but I think he has the athleticism to get positive yardage on the run. Now, I don't think he'd be as successful if he is getting rushed constantly. He might wind up like a Worley. Honestly, I think Worley would have been a better passer if he had more time.

Our linemen were pretty good last year. Some games the blocking was as good as anyone in college. I would agree with you two seasons ago but last year our line was pretty good running some pro blocking schemes.

QD made some heads-up escapes in limited action last year. I think if given the chance with the 1st team he would do alright. 2017 is going to be an interesting QB battle. Dormady will be the favorite but I think JG is the future.

Dormy is a quality QB. No worries. But as with any player on any team nobody wants to see injuries.

Except for some for the Ga player that took the cheap shot, even tho that is wrong, whether he deserves it or not , for what he did.

Go Vols!

No.

I do feel confident that many fans do not realize what we have in Dobbs and will probably only realize it after he's gone. It would be a shame not to understand you are watching one of the all-time top 4-5 Tennessee qbs play until it's too late.

It's lather, rinse, repeat with this fanbase.

Fans didn't know what we had in Martin until Suggs took snaps. Didn't know what we had in Clausen until Ainge's fall from grace in 05. Didn't know what we had in Ainge(not counting 05) until Crompton took over, didn't know what we had in Bray until the disaster that was our 2013 passing offense showed it's face(with all due respect for Worley having a couple solid games, but for the most part it was terrible).

I hope and pray that our transition from Dobbs to Dormady or Guarantano, whoever the starter is next year, will be as seamless as possible, but if it's not people will quickly realize how stupid they were when it comes to their hate for Dobbs' play.

Dobbs isn't perfect, just like Martin, Clausen, Ainge and Bray weren't, but he's pretty solid. Solid QB play isn't something to scoff at, because in football it's not very easy to come by.
