The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

From Vandymania:

From listening to Chris Lee's Vandy podcast yesterday it seems that CDM & staff are awful at keeping in touch with recruits who do have real interest in playing for Vandy. They mentioned several local recruits who have found their non-contact by the staff surprising. I guess at Stanford Mason just had to wait for talent to fall into his lap. It's all very disconcerting to say the least.

So we are waiting for a recruit to choose between us and perennial powerhouses Memphis and Western Kentucky?

Yippee.

It seems to be so quiet because good recruits no longer want to talk to us. Welcome to a future team of 2 star and 3 star recruits (heck, almost everyone gets at least 3 stars nowadays), with an occasional low 4 star thrown in.

My, how one hire tanked this program so badly is beyond me. It's stunning.

I have heard this from my friend inside McGugin and from Chris Lee. I also heard that he is dry as dust when sitting in recruit's living rooms and it actually gets uncomfortable. Nick Saban can get away with not having any personality( in a recruit's home), Coach Mason cannot

I didn't post this info because I didn't feel like arguing with those who would invariably say I was making it up

I almost feel bad for Vandy. Almost. But then I remember 2011-2013 and I don't.

I like how they act like they were some powerhouse for decades and Mason is the ONE coach to set them back. and still no one wants to mention that the balance in the SEC is coming back.

lol, Vandymania never fails.

Let's hope we don't repeat the reported story of the distant past when we supposedly signed someone who didn't even start for his HS team!

anybody got any ideas on who this might have been?

Unless Vandy is playing its home opener or a powerhouse SEC team with a huge fanbase, you can be within a block of the stadium and not realize there's a football game taking place.

I drove through just before their 2014 game vs Charleston Southern and thought they had a bye week. Nope. It was 30 minutes before kickoff. Campus was a ghost town.

I think I've told this before, but one Saturday night during Franklin's first season my wife had family in town and we were going out to eat. They wanted to go to J Alexanders so we did. We pulled right up to it and got out for valet parking.

The attendant asked if we were going to the game, and I said "What game?" and he said "The Vandy game". Sure enough I could see the glare of the lights being on, but that was the only way you could tell anything was going on. There were no traffic problems, no large mass of crowds going to the game, and kickoff was in about 20 minutes. I think they were playing Army that night, and because it was so quiet around the stadium I thought it was an away game.

There is definitely no other SEC stadium you could get that close to on gameday with no problems, and J Alexanders is literally a 2 minute walk from Vandy Stadium.

Had to be the shoes...

I think the main driving force behind the commit was once again our peanut butter at UT. The guy knew if he went to Vandy that was the closest and best chance he'd get at sampling just a small taste. Maybe some peanut butter scraps will be left behind next year after we mop the floor with their ass...

Stole him from WKU.....

What's sad (or funny depending on your outlook) is even with the commitment, they are still ranking behind such perennial powerhouse football programs as Nevada, Charlotte, Villanova, FIU and Toledo.

Poor Vandy...lol

That's hilarious

Wonder if he gets 6 months like the turd from Stanford ?

He will get much longer. Digital penetration isn't considered rape in California but it is considered rape in Tennessee. So this piece of crap was convicted of rape where as the piece of crap in California was not.

They have a thread over there that suggests the real reason they're struggling with recruting is because, "you can actually be convicted of a crime at Vanderbilt."

You can't make this stuff up
