Yeah, I've been trying to point that sort of thing for some time now. This from another thread.
As horrific and headline grabbing as some of these incidents involving various semi-auto rifles are let's be clear that numerically their use in homicides is actually quite small. Here are the latest (2010-2014) FBI UCR 5yr averaged numbers for murder/non-negligent homicide and weapons used:
Cutting instruments/knives - 1622
Bare handed (punching/kicking/etc) - 715
Blunt instruments - 487
Shotguns - 322
Rifles (all types) - 306
Do these beatings involve one guy killing 49 people by punching them?
