Xbox One

I would have been much happier had these consoles been modularly designed so current owners could just upgrade their existing consoles. However as it stands this isn't upgrading for current owners, this is re investing. I really do hope there are some good trade in offers for existing users. At least that would be some kind of "olive branch" to show those who cared enough to invest early won't be completely left out in the cold.

Some people do this with phones. They buy a new one every year. Its not like video game consoles are the first.

I don't see Sony or MS really doing an upgrade special. I can see GameStop offering to give you $0.10 on the dollar for your old system. And plenty will do it.

People are too impulsive now and these will probably see a great holiday season if they make it to the shelf in time.

It's slightly better graphics...big deal. The 4k player will be the big seller here. I see them pricing it like they did the PS2. It just makes sense to buy it instead of most standalone 4k players.

When yours breaks or quit working, it'll be an actual upgrade when you replace it. Nice.

True but the "hidden" cost of our phones is built into our monthly service plan. It's much easier to swallow 20-30.00 per month to pay for our phone than it is to pay 500-700.00 up front. Plus this has been the business model for cell phones since...well since the very beginning. People accept it because that's the way it's always been. It's NEVER been this way with consoles, so Sony/MS are going to have an uphill battle to gain acceptance with this. Who knows, people may just accept it and upgrade but I doubt it will be anywhere near in the same volume as it is with phones.

Basically two things will have to happen before I would consider getting this...

1.) Sony and MS/retailers are going to have to offer me a honey of a trade in deal on my current X1/PS4. Like minimum 150.00 trade in credit.

and

2.). Because I've already acquired so many X1/PS4 games, the only way I'll upgrade is if I see a good portion of my existing library getting patched to take advantage. Like if games like Witcher 3, Driveclub, Ratchet and Clank, Destiny, Bloodborne, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Sunset Overdrive, Until Dawn, etc along with games I've pre ordered like Uncharted 4 & No Mans Sky get patched to run 60fps. Otherwise, what incentive would I have to upgrade if the vast vast majority of my existing library doesn't see any benefit?

If both of these happen then yes, I absolutely will get in line on day 1. Otherwise I'll just stick with what I have.

Thats the thing....most likely there is no reason to upgrade unless you need a 4k disc player or want very slightly better graphics. So, no reason to really get worked up over it.

I agree. I don't care about 4k really, but since I don't currently have a PS4, I will just wait until the new one comes out.

I don't have a 4K TV so I don't care about that. However I DO care about frame rate. If a ton of my back catalog starts getting patched to run at a smooth 60fps then yeah, that would be a pretty strong incentive for me to upgrade. However like I said, they're going to also have to offer some kind of trade in deal for existing owners. Otherwise this looks like Sony and MS are rewarding consumers who waited to buy and are screwing over the loyalists who adopted early and made these consoles the success they are. It just doesn't seem right and I'd be willing to bet most current PS4/X1 owners would feel this way.

For those that stream to a PC/laptop to play the XBone, are you having any trouble with it. I suddenly can't stream. I open the app in Windows 10, click connect and it says it can't connect. My Xbox One is on and I even brought my laptop about 3 feet in front of it and it still can't find it. I'm not having any wifi or network issues either.

Just tried it. Seems to be working.

I've got a little money burning a hole in my pocket.

What's a popular FPS game with a great multiplayer?

Microsoft is resetting over 1 million gamertags from the original Xbox era, starting today, if any of you have had something you've wanted but never could get. I finally was able to get "Snape" from the Harry Potter series after 13 years of waiting :p

They're basically giving away xbones now. Might pick one up for a couple of console exclusives.

Might want to wait until E3 next Monday. MS is rumored to announce the new Xbox One slim. It's reported to be 40% smaller than the current model, which looks like a 1980's VCR.
