That's a big (huge) change from some of the special teams units in recent history.
Remember when we couldn't field a punt?
WOW that took a brain dr. to figure out. We were #1 in Kick returns last year, #2 in Punt returns and our all time punter is returning. How Medley got mentioned I'm not sure.
:thud:
Tennesseeduke
at special teams. ESPN had their experts rank various units. UT unmentioned except in special teams:
Desmond Howard's special teams
1. Tennessee Volunteers: KR Evan Berry, PR Cameron Sutton, K Aaron Medley
I'll keep Medley high on that list if he doesn't doink one off the uprights against Florida this year.
Medley? Where's Daniel? Trevor was outstanding while Aaron was by far our weakest link on special teams. Desmond didn't do his homework.
medley was terrible the 1st half of the year, really good the 2nd half.
he missed big, huge FG's against OU, FL and Bama, and ARK.
but we maybe don't win the MO game w/out him.
he needs to have a big year this year, we're gonna need him. but i don't know that i'd have him on my "stars of special teams, 2015 edition". punter, KR, PR...
-After 2 seasons, he's missed 16 field goals, including 2 from 20-29 yards.
-Last year he was 6-12 vs our 5 best
opponents (Oklahoma, Florida, Ark, Ga and Bama), including 1-6 from 40+ yds
-Was thankful for him vs Missouri, but he did miss a 31 yd fg....I'm also thankful that Mizzou's offense was completely inept.
-after 2 seasons, Medley is now 6-18 on fg attempts of 40+ yds......six of eighteen, or 33%. Not from 50+ yds.....from 40+ yards. Not good.
So yes, Aaron finished strong last year once we got to the easy part of the schedule when the pressure on him and the team overall alleviated a good bit. But he's been pretty bad his first two seasons overall. He needs to pick it up considerably if we're gonna get to where team 120 wants to and should get.
well...it sure didn't help.
Medley wan't very good the 1st half of the season. there's really no debating that.
