at special teams. ESPN had their experts rank various units. UT unmentioned except in special teams:

Desmond Howard's special teams

1. Tennessee Volunteers: KR Evan Berry, PR Cameron Sutton, K Aaron Medley

WOW that took a brain dr. to figure out. We were #1 in Kick returns last year, #2 in Punt returns and our all time punter is returning. How Medley got mentioned I'm not sure.

That's a big (huge) change from some of the special teams units in recent history.

Remember when we couldn't field a punt?

The Dooley years were brutal. Butch has made an emphasis in special teams and it definitely shows. From year 1 to now they've gotten better in that aspect.

Medley has all the physical tools, I just think he lacks mental toughness. He got better towards season's end though. He hits two FGs in Tuscaloosa the neck a would have been stirring. We win that game. Maybe.

Nah, he appears to aim at the upright. He might think he kicks better from the right hash. He needs to pick a target in the middle and aim for that, miss that mark by a yard it's still good.

I'm confident he will do a great job kicking for us this year.

Go Vols!

Case can be made for 3 IMO.

He hits a 45 or so yarder vs Oklahoma we don't go to overtime.

He also missed an early 30 or so yarder vs Arky.....would've gone up 17 nothing there, who knows what happens if we culminate that drive with 3 more points rather than a missed chipshot clanking off the upright.

And of course, he missed 3 (actually 4) vs Bama. He hits 2 of those and we likely pull the upset.

I'm sorry, Medley makes this article, but Trevor Daniel doesn't??

Huge improvement on special teams from recent years. With kiffen we watched head high field goal kicks, mt fatty, uhhh! Then dooley and not being able to even field a punt nor bring down a return man. No doubt if a team dosent know how to properly shower then their special teams will be subpar i guess?!?! Could def see the improvement right away under CBJ. If Medley gets his issues worked out, wow! Already have the best return game and one of the best punters which has been very underrated BTW. Punt vs GA was the best and most clutch ive seen in my 25 yrs of watching the game.

Forgot about Joe's punt return at ark that night. Was also there and while it was the best PR ive seen in person, the whole being against my beloved VOLS part really hurt. Thanks for that memory! Drove all the way home from ARK after that game and my son who was 4 told his papaw that the hogs "kicked the butts" out of us. Wasnt the final 49-7?

I am looking for the time the word upset and UT winning never go together.
