People ready to admit that Trump is a racist, yet?

I think it's the other way around, you don't understand. The majority of religious people feel they're better than others because they go to church and say they're a Christian. The hypocrisy oozes off of them, they put so much emphasis on letting people know they're a Christian and that they attend church. If someone is truly a Christian or a good person they don't need to tell everyone they are it will show in their actions

Sadly there are people like this, I even know some. I don't try to be that way. I've said before I'm Christian, and try to do my best to be faithful to church and all that. I sit at break with two atheist, a lesbian, and a Buddhist. The only time I act like I'm better is during football season

You are conflating religious law and the law of the state. While he did turn the religious leadership on its ear, he did not rebel against civil law whether it was just or unjust. You live according to your own moralistic views. That's great. I'm not arguing whether you should obey laws you consider unjust, but your view is not supported in the statements of Jesus. He cared enough about people obeying unjust laws to tell his followers if a Roman demanded their coat to give up their cloak as well. That statement was in response to a law permitting a Roman to take the coat of a Jew if said Roman wanted the coat. Again, as he did with going the second mile, he told his followers to obey it - even to exceed it by giving their cloak. Your views are your views. To say Jesus would be a supporter of illegal immigration is a statement that contradicts every statement he made concerning civil law. Why you feel the need to try and validate your views with the teachings of Jesus is beyond me. Maybe it makes you feel better.

Religious law was the law of the state back then.

What crime was Jesus convicted of? Was it a Roman law or was it a religious law?

They wanted him crucified for blasphemy. The Roman ruler stated he found no fault in him concerning the law.

Pretty sure he didn't say that part.

The Romans adopted the religious laws and allowed customs of the people they conquered to placate them. That's why he was crucified by Roman execution. That's why people who stoned adulterers didn't have to fear murder charges...because the Romans allowed for religious law to remain in place and govern.

I think he is referring to this: "Then Pilate announced to the chief priests and the crowd, "I find no basis for a charge against this man."

Luke 23:4

Religious law was the law of the state back then.

That is incorrect.

http://www.ancient.eu/Roman_Law/

"An important element of Roman law was the jurists (iurisprudentes), legal experts who subjected written laws, rules and institutions to intellectual scrutiny and discussion in order to extract from them the fundamental legal principles they contained and then applied and tested those principles on hypothetical specific cases in order to then apply them to new legislation. The jurists were an elite body as there were probably fewer than 20 at any one time and their qualification for the role was their extensive knowledge of the law and its history. In imperial times they were incorporated within the general bureaucracy which served the emperor. Also, because of their intellectual monopoly, jurists had much more independence from politics and religion than was usually the case in ancient societies."

None of that says they didn't allow/observe the law of Moses and the elephant in the room is that Pilate executed Jesus for violating the law of Moses...

Hilarious, considering all the posts you have made, with the bold assertions and accusations. But I forgot, you have a loophole for that, as long as you window dress it as you just doing what you're supposed to.

The only bold assertions I have ever made are not my own...they come from the Bible. God's words. Not mine. If they rub you the wrong way, which it is very obvious they do, take it up with Him. Not me. I could not care any less what you do with your life. I don't know you. I would like for all people to come to Jesus, but I will never try to make anyone.

As far as accusations, that is a lie. I have never accused anyone on this board of anything. Their sin is just that, their sin. I am quick to point out that I have sin of my own. I work to better myself and often fail. No mystery in that. You may know hypocritical Christians who point fingers at you and live like the devil while pretending to be righteous, but it ain't me brother. I am about as righteous as the gutter He found me in. I have a lot of flaws, and no problem owning them, but a self righteous attitude ain't one of them.

The problem that a lot of people have is they want to pretend that the way they live is ok. It is ok...with them. Many times, it's not OK with God. So they get all bent out of shape when somebody calls sin for what it is...sin. They get defensive and belligerent and attack mode is their immediate reaction. The bible says to call sin what it is. Sin. Hate the sin but love the sinner. You can live however you want, that's your business. I don't care what you do.. it doesn't effect me or mine. You shouldn't get all bent out of shape though and start insulting people when they point out that a God you don't believe in wrote a book that you don't believe is true that says that many of the things in your life are wrong...and that if you don't seek a personal relationship with the God who made you then you are going to burn eternally in a Hell you don't believe exists. I don't think it would upset me for someone to tell me that the spaghetti monster thinks I shouldn't drink mountain dew and that if I don't repent I will spend eternity in Narnia.

Those things don't exist to me. So that could never upset me. So how is it exactly that you will absolutely get your panties in a wad over the exact same thing happening to you? Let it upset you so much that in your anger you will insult people that you don't know? If you believe that I am stupid and all of my beliefs are foolish fairy tales then why would you get bent out of shape if my spaghetti monster said you are going to hell? Either you are allowing unimportant things to get the best of you, or you are not nearly as certain as you portray that my God isn't real, and that the sin in your life and in other people's is not indeed wrong?

Why do you feel that it is acceptable to legislate your religious beliefs upon others that may not share them?

It's amazing how you keep doing what I say you're doing, all while acting like you're not.

You seem to have an issue with people responding to the assertions you made. As I've said many times, you want to make your proclamations, but you cry that you're being insulted and attacked when what you say is responded to, and you hide behind your "Take it up with God not me". You posted it, God didn't.

And you don't make accusations? Seriously? You just went on a diatribe about the Democratic Party and Christians that vote democrat. You made several accusations about said Christians. As far as caring about what you believe or say, you clearly proclaimed that it shapes your voting, your voting shapes public policies and law, so yeah, I'm going to be respond to what you believe. You once again miss the entire point as to why people respond to you.

You are either a huge troll or simply one of the least self-aware people I have ever seen.

Placating a conquered and subjected people by allowing them to observe their legalistic religious traditions does not equate to your claim that religious law was the law of the state. If that were the case, if the religious law were the law of the state in Judea, a Roman could be found guilty in Jerusalem for failing to "remember the Sabbath, and keep it holy". Do you see the difference?

There is no elephant. Pilate did not execute Jesus for violating the law of Moses. I think you were much closer to the truth in an earlier post.

Quote a post with me complaining about being attacked . Just 1. Doesn't have to be from this thread. There isn't 1. I did point out how bent out of shape you, and others, get when people post anything about God, Christianity, or sin. I have been called a hypocrite, arrogant, etc. But until this post have said nothing about it. Nothing. I simply pointed out that people get awful bent out of shape when posts are made that have anything to do with a God you don't believe in. Seems strange.

As to what I said about the democratic party...I stand by that. That is common knowledge. Any member of my church, or the church I was saved in...or really any Baptist church can tell you which party votes in a "progressive" manner against the principles laid out in the Bible. I hate that word by the way, the root of progressive is progress and I can assure you that this country moving in the direction the loony left wants it to would not be in any way progress. Save the whales and kill the human fetuses is not progress. It is insanity at its worst. My views on this are not profound or unique. The democratic party works to legalize and make more convenient just about every manner of sin whether it be drugs, sexual immorality, abortion (murder of those without a choice) etc., They make these very issues a very public part if their policy, their platform. Every conservative member if this forum knows this. That is why those who believe the way I do are called the "religious right." There is no group known as the religious left. Those people are just called "confused".

For your second paragraph.....my goodness you're a broken record. I don't care what you hide behind or what justification you use, you are still making accusations.

Could you please tell me where in the bible it says abortion is wrong? You can't because the bible does not mention it but during Jesus time abortion was not against the law. In fact a passage in the bible says that a person is not a person until they take a breath of life..

The LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being. (NIV, Genesis 2:7)

The passage below seems to say that causing death to a fetus is not as serious a crime as causing death to a person, but it is actually just part of a long section specifying the punishments for various crimes.

And if men struggle with each other and strike a woman with child so that she has a miscarriage, yet there is no further injury, he shall surely be fined as the woman's husband may demand of him; and he shall pay as the judges decide. "But if there is any further injury, then you shall appoint as a penalty life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, (NAS, Exodus 21:22-24)

Now I am not sitting here defending abortion, I am saying you are making things up to defend your argument and using false pretenses regarding the bible to do so.

Also, the entire thing regarding Roe v Wade was about a woman having the right to do with her body what she wishes, do I condone abortion NO! But I do believe a person has rights and the supreme court believes so too.

You call the left the "loony left" is that Christian?? Calling an entire political party names? You have made my earlier point very clear.

I don't intend to start a religious debate but I have to clarify what you stated. In Genesis the author is clearly talking about Adam who was the first human being. He was created as a fully grown man and was not conceived in a womb. That being said, I would counter with these:

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart.
—Jeremiah 1:5

Even before I was born, God had chosen me to be His.
—Galatians 1:15

I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live
—Deuteronomy 30:19

Marcus, let me ask you this in regards to abortion. What about women who a ectopic pregnancy?? Usually this requires surgery or an abortion....should this be legal? Because according to the Southern Baptist Church...

Procreation is a gift from God, a precious trust reserved for marriage. At the moment of conception, a new being enters the universe, a human being, a being created in God's image. This human being deserves our protection, whatever the circumstances of conception. That is a direct quote from the Executive Committee of the Southern Baptist Convention.

None of this says that abortion is a sin or illegal...
