The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

not quite sure that imbeds so here is the link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gNO0ARn-M_w

can't sleep tonight so I went to see what little brother is up to.

So they are (1) learning to dress themselves and (2) looking for revenge.

????? That is the best they can produce? But it is Vandy football so maybe so.

I think you're giving them way too much road credit here. I think they lose to Western Ky and Mizzou on the road and will lose badly to GT and Ky which you have as winnable.

Vandy can beat UK. The cats have a new OC and a new QB. There OL was hot garbage last season and Vandy's front seven will abuse that OL. Webb should also abuse the UK defense. That Vandy QB is not bad either if he has any targets. I think that will be a good game which Vandy could easily win.

Yes. It will be like watching my 3 year old nephews wrestle. At the end both end up crying and nothing has been accomplished.

Vandy's QB is absolutely horrendous. All of their QB's are actually.

shurmur was trash until we put all of our backups in. They have to replace some guys up front on the OL and they still really have no skill players other than Webb who will get about 300 carries. So im not sure that they will be able to "easily beat" anyone.

Vandy fans think Butch is a terrible coach, but they sure seem eager for him to get fired over the Title IX lawsuit. Pretty much goes for every other SEC fanbase as well.

LOL! Exactly! They liked the state of affairs a little more when Dooley was here.

Vandy thinking anybody has a terrible coach when they have Durr Face is hilarious.

I agree with you that Vandy can beat UK this year because UK is, well, UK...they blow. I also think people are giving Vandy's defense wayyyy too much respect and I think it's because of expectations.....they were good last year rather than the expected "horrible" again like the year before.

Fact is, Vandy's defense was middle of the pack in the SEC last year. I heard the WakeUpZone guys discuss them this week on the radio and referred to them as having a "championship caliber defense". Lol. That just isn't remotely true, as we saw our guys run and pass through them like they weren't there last year in the last game of the season.

I do think that Webb is an NFL back though, and I'd bet he gets picked in the 6th or 7th round next year. Also, I think you're right about Shurmur too. Although he was mostly garbage last year, he did look pretty good vs us and should be better this year.

Yes and no. Shurmur made some nice throws, had some big completions vs our first team D in the first half during their second scoring drive. Otherwise, you're right, most of his damage came late vs our backups in garbage time. However, he showed more than I expected to see from him early in the game as well IMO.

Yeah, pretty much. For the record, we had 331 yards rushing and 521 yards of total offense. We could have easily put 60 on the board if we had wanted to.

Absolutely. And I wish Jones would've gone ahead and done it. 53 wasn't enough. I'm praying about a 77-3 game this year. West End pansies need to be reminded who the boss is.

If (and stress the if) the season unfolds like it could and we are headed for Atlanta in December, as much as I'd like to run the score up to triple digits on them I'd prefer to make sure the starters are primed and ready. And risking them against a cupcake like Vandy isn't a smart move.

But it also would be more embarrassing to Vandy to get smoked by our 2s and 3s on their home field.

he was decent at best against us and trash vs everyone else. Who is he going to throw to and who is going to protect him? Even if he happens to be a good player theres not really much talent at all around him. And he cant move at all.

Don't disagree for the most part. Perhaps it boiled down to my expectations. He was 3 of 12 for 19 yards and a pick the game before. Yet, against us, he threw for 200+ yards and 3 tds, albeit a lot of it late in the game.

Vandy could beat any team on any given day on a neutral site with a 10-15 point head start and 5 minute quarters imho

Sorry, man, not buying that. I think just about every SEC team would be up on Vandy by a couple of scores by halftime, even under those conditions. :)

I want Vandy to go 5-7 this season. It's enough progress that Mason will be retained (thus hopefully preventing a potential Shoop departure to West End), but not enough that they will have any momentum whatsoever heading into 2017.

Plus, it would be fantastic if one of their wins came against UF or UGA.

I think barring a complete collapse with a 1-3 win season, I don't see Vandy replacing Mason. I could be wrong, but I'd imagine there will be some additional coaching shuffles this year in addition to the ones already known.

They couldn't pull in a decent coach when they had a winning record, what coach would take that task on with the current roster/situation?
