Lady Vols Recruiting Info

No sir/mam that's not the case. Most times I come here to get the latest scoop on recruits as some of you are very informative in the wbb world, & I've liked many posts including a few of yours. I don't come here to stick my chest out & boast about our recent success as we haven't done much of anything compared to the lady vols. I just don't like posters who act like Dawn isn't accomplishing things now at a school that used to be a doormat in the SEC just a few short years ago. She hasn't had the luxury of the lady vols who have had so many great players come through your program over the years. Up until this upcoming season she hasn't had not 1 McDonald's AA guard out of high school. She's been making due with good but not great players & the better talent she's getting the more success she's been having. Let's not forget that Pat wasn't the greatest offensive mind either but she won time & time again on hard work, defense & rebounding. Dawn has said a number of times that she idolized Pat & wanted to structure a program in a similar way. We are seeing that take place before our very eyes.

I hope that we can coexist & talk wbb news as I am a big fan of women's basketball. I also hope that you & other lady vol fans that read this post have a great weekend :)
It's Ma'am and I GOTYA. I myself like to go to other forums and read. Cocky talk been awfully dead lately. You guys need to pick it up. You have a good weekend too

Don't think so. Having seen her play twice in her final season at Elizabethton she's not major D1 talent. She's definitely a smart lady though. Grades wouldn't have kept her out of any college.

She will not be an All-American in any of her 4 seasons at Duke. That's even if she stays there the entire time. I feel like she will be transferring out after a couple of seasons seeing that she's not going to get much playing time there. She may decide to stay to get her degree but if she wants to play basketball she's going to have to go elsewhere in my opinion.

I don't think she will be an All-American and I also don't see her transferring out. With the lost of a lot of players (Duke) not many girls want to go and play for McCallie anymore, and Duke has two players currently in the post (After Losing Stevens) they are down to two Post this season (Both are injury prone) and are unlikely to land the 2 they are recruiting next season. She will see a lot of time unless they go small ball. That still doesn't mean she will be an All-American but I could see her playing and Duke had Allison Bailes, I don't think you can get any slower than that

JMO I think Holly is in the middle of the pack in the SEC as far as coaching ability and probably barely in the top 100 nation wide. The way the team played last year is partly on them and the other part on her. She has to get away from that force the ball inside strategy and just run a free flowing offense with no one standing around dribbling out the clock.
She needs to alter the recruiting to get some perimeter shooters on the team. We'll see if any of these girls learned anything about shooting from the perimeter next season. We can't continue to shoot 25 percent from the three and 40 percent as a team if we plan on winning most of our games.

How many women's basketball teams are there and how many of them played above .500? How many finished in the top 8 in the NCAAs over the last decade?

Obviously the bar is higher for the Lady Vols. Had not Izzy gotten hurt in the last few weeks of her career the team would more likely made the final 4.

Volfan2012 dislikes the coaching ability of Holly. Understandable. Volfan2012 dislikes the inability of the perimeter players to hit 3s understandable. My question is which players need a screen to be more consistent? Carter for example, never shoots unless open and two years ago hit at a very consistent rate. Middleton won the McDonald's 3-pt contest as a senior. We all remember Burdick not being able to put the ball in the basket until Jan for two years and then closed out her senior year with a great shooting exhibition game after game. Summary: I wonder about loss of confidence as being contagious. The Syracuse coach is always defined as - keep looking for the next shot versus don't take a bad quick shot.

Once you call out your players, in post-game press for shooting three's... From then on they will think about them each time they shoot them... Not a good scenario for a BB players. They have to feel they can take the shot, to be comfortable taking them.... Or the players could get coaching in the summer... ';O

Listen. I'm pulling for her. She's a local girl that is a really good kid. I hope the best for her. I just don't think she's skilled enough to play too much at Duke.

I hope she improves & also proves me wrong in the process. Grades will never keep her from playing there that's for sure. Good Luck to her!

A good coach can go to a traditionally underperforming program and build a winner. Could Holly do that?

Nobody knows if she could do that.....that is a very hard situation....its also a very hard situation to have to replace a legend.

But we should have high standards when we replace a legend. You don't just hand it to a long time assistant who has never tried to accomplish anything on her own.

Warlick was not qualified to take over this program--that's the bottom line. She was a longtime assistant. You don't give this job to an assistant; you give it to a proven winner. Oh, well--too late now!

Who is the proven winner that would have wanted this job?

Who do you think would have taken this job that was a proven winner.... I can only think of four coaches that I would definitely take over Holly and I don't think any of them would have come here.

So, you would of had us tell Pat Summitt, screw you and your wishes, we will hire who we want?

Volbeast and Chitown are correct. Pat wanted Holly as her replacement and the uproar that would have ensued, had someone else been chosen, would have been epic. Who was available at the time that would have been acceptable to LV fans ? We all know the answer, no one.

We should have the highest standards because we have the tradition and in the past have been able to recruit top ten players. Why should we lose to teams like Alabama, Miss St, LSU, Va, Tech, etc. when we have seven McDonalds All Americans on the team. That seems like a lot of underachieving to me and both the players and the coach must take the blame.

Why would White leave you guys and head to Texas aren't they stacked in the post as well?

Your guess is good as mine. White battled through a couple of injuries but was never able to perform well on the court. She's a decent player but isn't that tough in my opinion. She had a better offensive game than Coates but Coates was the better player because of her defense & rebounding ability. Texas already has a couple big posts so I have no idea why she is considering them. I heard she's also considering NC State but I wouldn't get that move either.

I think NC State would be a good move for her. That coach seems to get the most out of players. Texas would be a very bad move.
