2016 Election Thread Part Deux

OK. An off the wall and in the wrong place question, but I've looked elsewhere without seeing an answer. Does anyone else have a problem with things sometimes not working here? For example, the "Like" button just goes AWOL, and no amount of refreshing or restarting the browser seems to have any effect?

If you're like me and have Charter internet service, it frequently stops working for a minute or 2 several times a day. More than frustrating, especially when they can't fix it.

It's a lot easier not to care. That's why you guys like to spew out the B.S. of "they are stealing from me". It makes you feel better to say they are stealing from you than to say you don't care. Just man up and say you don't give a **** and move on.

I don't give a rat's rear end about your dogma, your concerns, or your lip service.

Can we move on now?

If you were trying to like LG's posts, it won't let you do it. The "Gator Fan" disclaimer on his profile prohibits anything positive being attributed to him.

It's really rare that I might be tempted for either of those cases - and a few others not associated with FL. Actually I asked the question to see if posting still worked, too. But no likes for you this time - couldn't if I wanted to.

Do you believe the money a person earns should be their own?

Or do you believe the money a person earns should be merely what the govt allows them to keep? An endless trough they can reach into any time they want.

Doesn't have to be 100% one way or the other. Even if you lean one way or the other.

I have EPB fiberoptic service - normally very reliable. Generally the problem happens more like just after midnight, but it's been happening a few times today. Nice to give someone a "Like" when you agree but don't feel a need to respond.

Question for Obama supporters:

How can you both praise Obamacare (a fascist policy) and at the same time ***** about trump being a fascist? Isn't fascism what you want? It's 100% what the gop wants

Logical?

Ok, let's say a person makes $15,080 per year or $1256 per month. That is a person working minimum wage 40 hours per week with no overtime.

Rent - $450 per month doable in some places
Food - $300 per month. That's definitely not eating out and smart shopping with coupons. But doable.
Clothing - $100 per month but this is goodwill and other places
Utilities - $200 per month. No cell phone, cable TV or internet.

Boom! that leaves you $200 for savings.

This lady was able to fund a Caribbean vacation with an income of $16k and a little government help. Frankly I don't know why anyone would work for minimum wage with these handouts.

Transportation ? Any form.
Insurance? Auto, health, life
Medical expenses?
Unforseen expenses? Happens to everyone.

Transportation - Buy a bike at goodwill for $100
Medical Expenses - Not going to kill someone making minimum wage. Not going to prevent you from eating or paying your rent.
Unforeseen expenses - WTF? Again not a necessity for survival!

It wouldn't be a comfortable lifestyle but for 1 person, living on minimum wage can be done. Now, your turn.

Why should there be a federal minimum wage? The cost of living in Harlingen, TX isn't near the same as New York City.

Transportation is needed

Insurance - auto may not be needed and life certainly is an election. Health is needed per Obama

Medical is a ridiculous thing to include as it is unknown and unpredictable. May not even occur so why mention it?

Really? Unforeseen expenses? Lol.

Not really in this fight but a second job would certainly pay for those items and more. Having room mates would also split some of the costs. It's tough but doable.

I am more concerned about the elderly/disabled that are poor than some 20-45 year old who is not entirely interested in bettering themselves but able bodied

Woodrow Wilson second best president after 1900? Jimmy Carter above Coolidge, Clinton, HW? We know who made this list.

Then please name the last great president who was also became President? HW rolled into office with the stock market at a high, he was bounced for jacking up taxes. Jimmy Carter was a great businessman and obviously didn't fare so well as President, the list goes on...

Sorry, Trump: Past businessmen did poorly as presidents - MarketWatch

Did you read your article? If so can you point to where it lost all possible credibility?

I'll give you a hint, 33.

Then please enlighten me on why a businessman will make a good president when history shows us it will not. Trump is going to fail like all of these guys do because he's going to try to run our country like a company and it's not a company. Plus he's so arrogant he'll get rid of anyone who tells him No

The article referenced Truman as a great POTUS. Lost all credibility. However.

I don't think Trump will be a good president, if he wins I'll lay money on him being a 1 term POTUS who doesn't either seek or win a nomination for a 2nd term.

I don't believe Truman was good either but the point was to show that businessmen have no business running our country. I don't believe HRC is any better and I wish someone would come forward and run as a 3rd party member that is worth a %%%%

I must have missed where I said Trump would be a good president. I'm just arguing that the presidential ranking used in that article is laughable.

Let's take the modern businessmen presidents to be W, HW, Carter, Truman, Hoover, Coolidge, and Harding.

Objectively awful: W, Hoover, Carter
Generally considered decent: Truman, HW
Split among partisan lines: Coolidge

Harding is generally considered to be one of the worst, if not the worst, due to the scandals that plagued his administration, but he doesn't have much of a policy record, good or bad, to stand on either. It's hard (for me) to judge him.

That's not a trend; that's a very small sample size.
