Not impressed with Justin Fuente

I am certainly happy with the programs current trajectory, and glad that I can now laugh at the past.

It's made me appreciate something's in football that I had taken for granted. Our roster was so awful when Butch got here. I thought it would take much longer than it has to flip an entire roster. We are as good as anybody right now.

There's nothing wrong with being patient, objective, fair minded, rational and thoughtful. I gave him a chance and I don't regret it. I love Vol football so what else could I do? Anyways I'm quit content now with how our program is evolving.

I personally was still supporting Dooley until the Missouri game in year three. Like you said, we love Vols football, what was the alternative? However, after that boondoggle I withdrew my support and got behind the notion that it was definitely time for a change. I was clearly well behind the curve.

I don't think he needs an excuse for losing to a vastly more talented TN team. I am also not going to discount a coach's resume because he happened to have (or God forbid we allow that maybe he helped develop) a good quarterback. He may fail, but "people were wrong about some other dude" and "but he had a good qb" aren't very compelling arguments imo. I also don't remember a ton of posts claiming that Memphis would have beat UT last year. I am sure there were a few here and there, but I doubt it was an epidemic. That said, they beat a similarly talented OM team, so it's not like it would be out of the realm of possibility.

Epidemic? I don't think I said nor implied anything close to that. I was talking about those who did in the NCAA forum last year. And some of the EXACT same saying that about Fuente said the same about Franklin while at Vandy. That sir was and is my point.

I was as well. Thank goodness Hart made a great hire for us.

Support your claims with quotes and names or put down the bottle and take a nap.

So to recap, you think Fuente will fail because some people thought Franklin was a good coach, and he had a good QB at Memphis. Am I missing something or should I just LOL?

I also love the fact that you completely avoided the substance of my post to reduce the argument to the definition of "epidemic".

I don't have to support anything. Several on here remember the thread. And I never said epidemic, I was pointed by saying the "Fuente lovers".
And please join KB in ignoring me. I won't lose sleep.

No. Just no. If you can't follow then you either don't have the ability to do so or you're choosing not. This wasn't a hard thing to follow.

Ignoring aint my thing. Besides I like reading emotional posts, they make me snicker on cloudy days.

If you're reading emotion into my posts you really need to work on your comprehension.
Very simple, some of the very same posters who were all over Franklin (and now are distancing themselves from that stance) are the same ones who stated they'd take Fuente over Jones and stated Memphis would've beaten UT.
I added that I believe once we beat VPI these same posters will make excuses for Fuente. Yet there's no way to argue Memphis had more talent than VPI.

I disagree, it has been hard to follow your baseless excuse of an argument.

Did you not attempt to make the case that Fuente sucks because he had a good QB and people also thought that Franklin was a good coach? Am I making it up? Can you not follow your own ridiculous "logic" or are you choosing not to?

Like whom? Also wtf would he need an excuse to lose to TN? We would be a massive favorite regardless of who the coach is.

Don't always look at the W/L record as a measurement of success. Did the offense and defense improve every year he was there, etc? If so that's improvement under his watch. Lots of variables to determine a coaches success. J/S

Nope. If the wins happened to come when a good QB was on the squad they are irrelevant. Also some coach was overrated by some message board posters that one time.

I think that was more about the city the team is from, than Fuente. Memphis gonna Memphis.

Not too mention, BYU is a notoriously dirty team...Must be all that child support the players have to pay.

Oh and don't forget this little prank in the B-Ham bowl.

Memphis player steals ball on Auburn sideline at Birmingham Bowl

Memphis gon Memphis indeed. Anybody who's ever spent any considerable time there or, God forbid, lived there, knows exactly what you mean Dodge.
