I agree that he is done, but I will also give credit where it is due. He sold enough snake oil to land one of the best jobs in the country.
He absolutely did that. But a quick look at his vandie resume and the side of the ball that he's always been responsible for, the offensive side, tells the story. His offenses at Maryland when he was an OC were awful....his offenses at vandie where he focused his attention and called the plays on gamedays were awful...and his offenses now at PSU are God-awful.
Now, juxtapose the awful national offense rankings under Franklin with the outstanding national defense rankings under his DC Bob Shoop......and add a dash of easy, very poor strength of schedule opponents.......then throw in an energetic, dynamic, if not abrasive attitude/personality of a full-throated used car salesman, and you get the full picture of how he was able to do it.
