9-1-16? (Vols' season opener moved to Thursday)

True, but at least you do know that the game will be played on a Saturday as scheduled. Apparently our AD just wants us to clear our schedule for the whole damn week and show up whenever he sees fit to schedule the game.

I hear ya, man.

Like I said earlier. I guarantee you they are feeling the wrath of a very large number of people.

how old are you? life changes, and you roll with the punches. this is nothing to get irritated over. Get irritated over your car breaking down or noisy neighbors. Don't cry like a teenager because plans have to change. I am sure your friend and your girlfriend will get over it too.

Jesus, this is a message board. And to top it off, I've already spent real money (which is certainly something to get irritated over) that I'm going to have to work to get back.

I'm allowed to be frustrated over a pointless move affecting plans I've already set in place. It's not like this is throwing my entire life off course.

Awesome, this just made my day! Wouldn't have been able to go if it was on Saturday.

Having Wendsday and Thursday as your weekend has finally paid off. Actually get to go to a game finally without using vacation days to do so.

you should boycott all of the games....that will show'em!

Ok. Just for fun....let's pretend this was the Florida game.

Can you understand why a season ticket holder who looked forward all year to attending that game, and now can't, would be pissed?

It's the season opener. Y'all are geeked up. Tennessee's back! We're going to win the East! People are more excited than they have been in years. They can't wait to see the Vols be the team they remember once again.

Now, oops, sorry. Too bad. So sad. Signed, the althetic department.

And you really don't understand where the anger is coming from.

Most of these people have probably been paying through the lean years too

You may break even on the tickets. Everything else is moot.

Why are you talking down to Butch like you are? Hell, I'd be totally pissed off too, if I was in his shoes. BTW, how old are YOU???

Some of you all act like adversity or change has never entered your life. Carry on with the cheese and whine party then.

Well said, Butch. You're handling it a whole lot better than I would be, let me tell you. You have every right to be irate.

No kidding.

Look, I guarantee you right now the phones at the UT ticket office are ringing off the hook.

Tennessee is different than Florida too. You guys probably have fans who travel to Knoxville for games that live in about eight different states.

I know the school has the right to do this.

What I am saying (and go look at my first post) is how long can you possibly expect season ticket holders to purchase tickets and pay ridiculous booster fees (out of love of school) when they don't even know when the heck the game is going to be played.

College football is the only sport like this.

Every other sport the time and date of the game is known months in advance and does not change except for an act of God.

I guess the massive cancellation of season tickets over one game will prompt Tennessee to never do the SEC a solid again. :dunno:

I can almost guarantee I've been through more than a lot of people on this board.

Doesn't change the fact that I should be allowed to make irritated posts, ON A MESSAGE BOARD, WHERE PEOPLE GET MAD ABOUT POINTLESS STUFF DAILY. Especially when there's at least a tiny amount of real-world effect here.

It's not like I'm going to sit around for the next 7 weeks *****ing about this game and not doing anything else.

Everyone has 3 months to figure out if they can adjust their plans or sell their tickets to someone who will jump at the chance to go to a game.

Like I said earlier, I'll tell you what I believe is the overall effect of this.

Besides all the other reasons, like HDTV, more and more season ticket holders are going to say "screw this".

They won't buy season tickets. They'll buy tickets to Florida and Alabama, etc from a secondary vendor and will not pay to go to cupcake games like this anymore.

They'll save a whole bunch of money, will see the games they want, and won't feel like a sucker for paying 5-10x street value to attend an Appy State, East Tennessee State, Vanderbilt, etc, game.

This is happening at a bunch of places.

Pretend for a second you're a season ticket holder in Memphis.

I am and will be there, and back at work on Friday in Memphis.

At least this is out a few months in advance. I 100% agree that it sucks when game times are announced the week of the game.

God bless you, man.

What time do you have to show up for work? if you are driving, you won't get back to Memphis until about 4 AM?

Well let me speak for fans who live 6-8 hours away. This sucks. We are not a MAC team who needs exposure. Season ticket holders have paid a hefty donation to attend 7 games so selling 1 game is a bummer. No rebate on donation for 1 less game.
