If everything goes as planned and Tennessee explodes onto the scene this year, Butch Jones' stock will never be any higher. Does he look at other job offers? With the lawsuit on-going he may be tired of having his name ran through the mud for no reason. I think some schools would be willing to throw a large sum of money at him which will at least cause some great concern for us to start the offseason.

Could this be a reality next year?

I think there's a chance it's a reality.

The only place I worry about him going is the fighting Irish but I think they would want to see more than one very strong year.

Everyone can make fun of you if they want, but I would not be at all surprised if that happened.

Let's say it did happen. It would suck, sure, but it would be an entirely different situation than the last three coach departures. Much, much less doom and gloom.

Don't confuse Butch with Kiffin. Tennessee is not a stepping stone type job. I think many people forget that due to how Kiffin treated us.

If CBJ Leaves after this year I have a huge problem!! EVEN if we have a "MONSTER" year.
You just dont rebuild this team and leave it when its at its most pivotal times.!!

Not me. Bring on the monster year(if that means NC).

And then Butch can go pro like half our starters will.

He has rebuilt us. Now is the time to Finish.

Straight to the moon Vols!

Let's be honest about a couple of things here:

1) Tennessee is a top destination RIGHT NOW after the work Jones has done to turn the program around. Used to not be, now it is again.

2) why would Jones make a lateral move to another program? Doesn't really make sense. Not like the Michigan, Ohio state or Alabama's of the world are gonna need a coach anytime soon.

3) Jones knows the potential in the SEC east. Continue good recruiting and we are in the discussion as a top contender for the SEC championship every year. Why would he give that up?

4) CBJ doesn't seem to me like an NFL head coach. Philosophies don't really mesh too well in the NFL.

Therefore, Jones is staying. It's science folks.

Could it happen? Sure.
Probably not likely but this lawsuit is not helping things. Butch values having a great reputation.

Tennessee is one of the Top College Football Programs in the country. Now where would he go if he decided to leave? He's put in so much hard work and dedication to rebuilding this mess that Dooley left him. I'll admit, he's not the best coach in the country but I would say he's probably the most hard working coach that we've had in a very long time. His passion for Tennessee, the obsession of his winning mentality in the SEC is hard to come by these days. If he could learn just to play to win instead of playing not to lose, he'll be an really successful coach in the SEC. Right now, Butch was meant to be the Head Coach at the University of Tennessee. He has no reason to leave his "Dream Job" unless he pulls an Lane Kiffin out of the blue but I think Butch has more respect for us than that. O.P. to answer your question, I don't think you have nothing to worry about.

I originally read the OP as a spin-off of the "does Butch want to go to the NFL" conversation currently raging in this other thread: http://www.volnation.com/forum/tenn...member-attrition-3.html?posted=1#post12607830

But if you're talking about Butch leaving Tennessee for another college program, no way. Short of going pro, which LWS says he would like to do some day (see that other thread), he's not leaving here for any other coaching job.

I think Butch can be a great college coach, but I don't see him in the NFL. And, it isn't because of coaching ability. It is because he runs the Chip Kelly-type offense. QBs can handle the beating in college, but not on a consistent basis in the NFL.
