I originally read the OP as a spin-off of the "does Butch want to go to the NFL" conversation currently raging in this other thread: http://www.volnation.com/forum/tenn...member-attrition-3.html?posted=1#post12607830

But if you're talking about Butch leaving Tennessee for another college program, no way. Short of going pro, which LWS says he would like to do some day (see that other thread), he's not leaving here for any other coaching job.
Jones's style would be an epic fail in the NFL, when the players make more than the coach you can't be a control freak.

To start over somewhere else?? Butch has aged about 8 years in the last 4. Why in the world would he put himself through that again? It's so hard to build a winning program and there's a very good chance it would not happen again. He will get a raise to reflect any grand successes he accomplishes. I don't see him a pro coach, I think he relates better to college players and fans.

Here is why CBJ stays, regardless of our record this year:

#1 It's a lot of hard work rebuilding a major NCAAF program
#2 Most coaches don't want JUST one year near or at the top once they have built a tradition
#3 Smart coaches don't do all this dang work and let someone else come in and reap the benefits of their tremendous work

If everything goes as planned and Tennessee explodes onto the scene this year, Butch Jones' stock will never be any higher. Does he look at other job offers? With the lawsuit on-going he may be tired of having his name ran through the mud for no reason. I think some schools would be willing to throw a large sum of money at him which will at least cause some great concern for us to start the offseason.

Could this be a reality next year?

I be glad when football starts. Then some of these dumb post will stop. I said some. lol

Only in a perfect world.

Vols ball out, win NC.

The Browns, calls him, and he accepts.

Peyton Manning announced as HC.

Sure why not? It could be for the best, who knows?

To the Moon Vols!

Everyone can make fun of you if they want, but I would not be at all surprised if that happened.

He will get a raise if we win the SEC east, a bigger one if we beat Bama. The national championship is still not quite a realistic outcome and is therefore will produce an unpredictable consequence. He is here for the foreseeable future IMO.

I think it would be ignorant to work your tail of for years to turn a team of Dooley division 3 kids to national champ contenders and then leave it. Makes no sense and we could match anyone with money

Where and why ?! Anything other than a perennial top five team, which in this day and age good luck, would be a lateral move. He can win here, and be great here. I'm not sure why he would go. If he gets us in the playoff discussion more often than not, he can write his own check here.

Totally agree, OP. I don't think VN is really considering this - thanks for bringing it up.

Just kidding. Dumb thread.
