Lady Vols Recruiting Info

Another factor with regard to Dodson and Kushkituah, that no one has mentioned is the fan support. Georgia at their best during a season averages around 2-3000 in attendance. This has been consistent for more years than I can remember. Last season Georgia's average attendance was higher for the away games (5224) than it was for the home games (2932). The Lady Vols, at their worst, in the last ten years or so averaged over 10,000 in attendance and, at their best were close to 15,000.

Some players relish playing on the "big stage". Let's hope that MD & KK are two that do!

Mr. Let Me Coach tells us that Carter, Reynolds and Cooper simply need to work on their shooting this summer --
Hello! Carter and Reynolds will be seniors next year:

I'm hearing a buzz around TBA that Carter will not be back next season, and IF she is it will be a very limited role. Her body has given about all it can.

The reason they go to Georgia outside of being close to family and friends would be to rebuild the program. They are 2 players who are bout in the Top 10 at their respective Positions (Dodson is ranked as the #2 and KK is #5) add that to the other Georgia talent Combs (#5 rank PG), Newby (#10 rank Post), Morrison (#13 rank guard) and you have 5 girls coming in the same class at a school with 8 scholarships. They would be like the Women's Version of the Fab 5. Dawn Staley was able to keep all of the Top South Carolina talent in South Carolina when she arrived and how has that turned out for SC?

A team consisting of;

PG-Combs 5'8
SG-Morrison 5'8
SF-Dodson 6'3"
PF-Newbie 6'2"
C-KK 6'4"

You mean to tell me that wouldn't elevate them to the top of the SEC immediately if they are good as advertisted? That is 5 players in the Top 60 of their recruiting class and I wont include the players from Florida who are also close (LaDaizhia Williams and Rennia Davis), knowing you can go to a school and potentially start right away would definitely intrigue them.
You make some excellent points. They will have some talent for sure & adding KK & Dodson will make them a formidable team. Just don't see them jumping out as serious contenders in the SEC but time will tell. You made a great point about players wanting to come in & start. It seems like with each passing year more & more players want to start right away rather than "earning your stripes". Joni may turn out to be one heck of a coach.

With Russell as your center? Are you being serious or facetious?

Russell showed in spurts what she can do. All she needs is a good instigator to get consistency out of her. She is more than capable of running the show from the low-post...If you're speaking of timidity and not skill-level, this too is coach-able. . . Anyone can fight, you just have to give them a good enough reason to bring it out of them.:furious3:

regrettably, we would have to look back on our own past season's talent combination and pre-season ranking's as the example that talent alone isn't the singular qualifier.

Good point. This can be said for men's & women's teams across all sports. Underachievement happens all the time. Prime example: the 2015 Kentucky men's basketball team.

That's too bad to hear about her injuries. Unfortunately, the team has had very bad luck with the rash of injuries the past few years. Hope she does what's best for her body.

I'm surprised her knee lasted this long. It's basically bound together with duct tape.

I thought Dunbar was from Illinois.

She is from Illinois but she lives just across the Mississippi River, 15-20 minutes from St. Louis. I am sure that her family does not have an issue traveling approximately 160 miles to the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo. when the Lady Vols play the Lady Tigers.

Sad to hear this about Draya, she is a class act! ... Looks like getting another guard ready to take on some of those minutes is now a higher priority. Everything's on the ready except the go-ahead.

I am sadden to hear this about Draya but I think this helps provide more minutes for MeMe Jackson and Possibly Kortney

I'm still mad at Carter for committing that last second foul that allowed them to lose to LSU?

Get over it. Carter is the only player who was willing to throw herself all over the court to get the ball season after season. Her body has taken a lot for the Lady Vols.

Yes they could, but...So could others.., It's all a matter of how far all of the players push their performances this summer. All of em need to work on their individual skills, particularly: Dribbling with a purpose. Not relying to use the dribble to move the ball so much (A few scrimmages of no dribble to 10-by ones, would instill the ambition to pass and move... A game of ten, back and forth full court is exhausting, until you master placement. Doing this every few days would work wonders. (Ball can hit the floor only on two occasions: bounce pass and one-dribble drive to the hoop) ,Personally I have an in-game standard: If you dribble more than four times, after you reach a half-court "set"...You better be going somewhere by the fifth one!... And you have to have the gumption to enforce these types of standards... Because:"Players" are made in the off-season,, "Teams" are made in the regular season,, "We coaches" are made in tournaments.

I'm thinking Reaves is the best coach Holly has ever hired. The woman can close on players when they visit. I look forward to watching her recruit us back up to the top of the SEC.

This foul is on Holly not really "CARTER". Holly should have instructed the team not to Foul in the remaining seconds of the game.! That's her job to be on top of game events!

It's on both.... Andraya was a junior and you expect a leader of your team to know better.... That being said, it's just one play and I love Draya..... My daughters favorite player and a great person as well.
