The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

that was crap last year. kept their first string in even after it was clear we had our second string in.

Everyone knows the real score at the end of that game was 53-14. Two garbage time TDs by Vandy late in the 4th certainly did not make up for the Biblical butt kicking they received throughout the whole game.

I suppose this thread is just as good of a place as any for this.

I find it slightly amusing, but in thinking about it, they might actually be able to become 4th or 5th best in the division with their defense. That also assumes the offense improves. Mason's defenses are pretty good, but if their offense doesn't get any better I could see them battling for 6th.

I will be rooting like hell for Vandy to beat UGA and UF. They aren't even remotely a threat to us now, but they can certainly play spoiler for our East rivals.

i know its just the offseason but seems like every year Mason is constantly telling ppl how good they are. I mean i saw every game they played and i watched them look like a pee wee team trying to tackle our offense in the last game of the yr. And now they are all of a sudden "much better and competitive?" I just dont see it at all.

Yeah, but I don't expect him to come out and say "Golly guys, we suck really bad! We're gonna get slaughtered this year!"

Then again, his press conferences have been a bit entertaining thus far and I wouldn't put it beyond the realm of possibility.

They've gone back to being comical Vandy for me. I root for them to knock off anyone else in the SEC than us. I always felt that way about them until Franklin was there

Basically, Mason gonna Mason, Mason not gonna Dooley.

The irony is they are polar opposites. Dooley never really had issues with scoring. Probably had the best over all offense we've had in some time when you factor in how many of those guys got drafted or currently play in the NFL. That O line and Bray worked exceptionally well together. Shame they had one of the worst D1 coaches ever flounder how good they were. I truly think a Cutcliffe or even Kiffin would've gotten Bray drafted very highly.

Not to mention the defense giving up 198 points a game.

If Wilcox had stuck around, UT would have had a winning season under Dooley. That final year was an abomination for so many reasons.

He really did though after Bray hurt his hand vs Georgia in 2011. We scored 7 points or less 5 times the rest of that year including a 10-7 loss to Kentucky with Bray.

Anyone remember our favorite Vandy troll Immyaxl? Even SOV hit him hard:

We don't have to worry about anything anymore We don't have to worry about Bowl games, beating UT, recruiting rankings, filling up the smallest stadium in the SEC or even being competitive most of the time. Our administration is perfectly content with where we are.

Have to love that in the thread where they are dogging Bob Shoop, one posters says Vol fans love a coach and a few years later will call him every name in the book.

Hypocrisy is always hilarious at that place.

Haha. He's exactly right. Admins don't care. At all.

Mason will go 5-7 this year and be retained because it's progress. Then Vandy will go 3-9 next year and he'll chalk it up to a rebuilding season. And the cycle will continue.

Same ol' Vandy, brand new imyaxl:

I admittedly wanted CDM gone after the Temple game. That was the worst season of Vandy football i've ever seen and I've seen some bad ones. Last year was better but not by much. The offense made me want to cut out my eyes. CDM is a heck of a defensive coordinator but that's where my praise ends. I'd like to say it's make a Bowl game or cut our losses but who knows with this administration. It really sucks being a Vandy football fan. Ok I'll get off my soap box now.

Someone should invite him/her back. It'd be much more bearable this time around. We could all sit around and agree how much it must suck to be a Vandy fan.

I hate to even acknowledge this, much less see it play out and become reality, but Vandy has a chance to go bowling this year. Going into the TN game, I hope they're 5-6, and have been pretty competitive in all their SEC game losses. I want them to be full of confidence and faith, and truly believe they're going to win the UT game. It will be glorious to crush their hopes and dreams in the tune of a 40 point blowout.

But for real, looking at their schedule, I came up with this conclusion:

Sep. 1 vs USC: Winnable toss-up game. I'm going to say they win this one.
Sep.10 vs. MTSU: Win
Sep. 17 @ GT: Winnable toss-up game. I'm going to say it's a probable loss though.
Sep. 24 @ Western Kentucky: Win
Oct. 1 vs. UF: Loss
Oct. 8 @ UK: Winnable toss-up game, likely a loss however.
Oct. 15 @ UGA: Loss
Oct. 22 vs. Tenn State: Win
Nov. 5 vs. AU: Small chance at winning this game, very high percentage of being a loss.
Nov. 12 @ Mizzou: Winnable toss-up game, could go either way.
Nov. 19 vs. Ole Miss: Loss
Nov. 26 vs UT: Loss
