Lady Vols Recruiting Info

Nared was ranked #5 the year before Cooper. Russell was #1 the year before Nared.

I was talking about top recruits from 1 class like we used to do. Signing the top 2-3 recruits from one class. That's what I'm trying to say not that we can't sign one every draft class for the future.

well, diamond and Russell were 1, 2 in same class, both ended up here

I can hear it already..."we are so young", "we will go back to the gym and get better", "I don't understand why we can't get the ball inside", blah, blah, blah!

Jatarie White down to NC State, Texas, and Virginia Tech. Kyra Duckett transferring from South Carolina to Coastal Carolina.

I don't think you will see Holly go for anymore post players for next season. I hope were still looking for a perimeter player with three point ability.

But Diamond wasn't our original recruit. Russell was the only one of those 2. You can't overlook the obvious facts. Ever since Pat left, we have not been able to get top recruits like we did with her here. It's just a plain out fact! When I say top recruits I'm meaning top #10-#15 ranking wise coming out of high school.

We have gotten maybe 1 in a signing class like we did with Russell(who was #1) what 3 years ago & Cooper(she was #12) this past season but not 2-3+ top recruits like we used to get per signing class. That's my point.

The top transfer was Azura Stevens. She went to UCONN. Batouly Camara is probably second best. Don't think she's considering us. Nunn is good though. Wish Jatarie White had been interested in TN. The upper echelon like Megan Walker just aren't looking our way. Sigh.

Batouly Camara and Jatarie White couldn't consider us they are from SEC They lose too much with another SEC team. I'm hoping Corsaro looks at us.

Nared was 5th in her class, where was Jannah Tucker 6th? Not to mention you would have freaked out if we didn't sign Cooper or Middleton (who won the 3 point contest and McDonalds AA) which really made it harder to get Carter, who ended up at Vandy. We missed out on the bigs last year, but were right in their final 2 or 3, just the way it rolls. You people seem to forget some bad classes Pat brought in, Simmons and that Avant, Taber and Williams, none never panned out, no Simmons was not good, turn over waiting to happen, jacking up shots with no body ready to rebound, all any team had to do was let her get the ball. Those were two of her last classes, neither was a good class

Pat still brought in top 10 recruiting classes for year after year while she was here coaching. You just can't deny that. It would just be nice for Holly & the coaching staff to even be considered as a school for some of these top recruits but it isn't happening.

Most top #10-#15 recruits for 2016 didn't even have UT on their radar. That's what I'm talking about. Is this going to stay in trend moving forward? I mean it wasn't like we had a bad season in 2015 for this to start happening.

I'm surprised that Diamond picked UT as her transfer school to be honest. I thought we didn't have a shot at getting her. She came here based on tradition I think more than the coaching staff we had. I just hope we can get some top 2017 recruits to get us on their radar.

I'd take 1 top 10 recruit from that class but 2-3 would be even better like it used to be. If we can only get 1 top 10 recruit then let's at least get a couple somewhere in the #25-#50 ranking for their class. I'm saying this for 2017 & beyond.

We are actively recruiting Lindsey Corsaro, the UK recruit released from letter of intent. She is still considering UK and will take up to 4 visits before the end of this month from my understanding. Tennessee looks to be one of those visits although nothing is confirmed.

Elif Portakal, shooting guard from Turkey, is still being recruited as well.

Corsaro is a Top 50 recruit, 6 foot guard who can score in bunches. Shot 38% from 3 in high school.

Good call on this one VF. If Kamera pans out well, she and Russell will make a formidable tandem and she could even progress into a low post when Merce moves on. A good and consistent spot-up three shooter is exactly what the next step is...Corsaro would be the perfect choice if we can snag her.

Cosaro would be a huge get for our team. She would fill an area of need she can shoot the ball. She averaged 29 ppg as a senior.

VF, I like the team we have right now. They are working off the clock. Some of these girls have talked to coaches over the past few weeks, just to set up summer workout programs. I just hope that they get to choose the coach they ask for if the coach is one that can truly benefit the player...Chemistry is everything between coach and student. The best coach isn't always the best coach for a player just because they are considered the best coach. Sometimes you can hate the choice your kid makes, but if it right for her, you have to let her make that choice. To not do so, may create a rift between you and your girl.. The best coach for the player is the one who can get the best out of them.

The last thing we want is a gunner that thinks they have to shoulder the teams shooting woes. The shooting woes are across the board. If it were one or two players having shooting concerns, it would be mechanics... Change the mentality, change the proficiency... Then we can take on this new shooter without overwhelming her with expectations and mental pressures to perform.

Corsaro schools:

Baylor
Indiana
Michigan
Tennessee
Texas
UCLA
Washington

Only has four official visits to use, so she may visit some of these unofficially.
