Free Agent U?

I agree with Randolph. North? Not so much. His numbers and game film for the last 2 of his three seasons is practically non-existent, because he was hurt.

Marquez North Draft Profile – NFL.com

Read North's evaluation. Read the paragraph on weaknesses. For a WR to have the word, "Slow." listed? If I am a GM going over those, that one goes in the reject pile the moment I see that.

North needed another year of college ball to put up impressive numbers. He has the talent, but whoever is giving him advice is a total idiot. But if he wanted to move on, he made room early for another prospect to come in this year.

But you and D4H believe he should have been drafted? There are 32 NFL GMs that disagree with you, and want to keep their jobs.

Yea North was a stretch.

It would be awesome for Hurd to stay his Senior year and win back to back National Championships, along with a Heisman Trophy.

Talent and tape will be what they look at first, but if the guys that get a shot and prove that they were draft worthy based off how they are prepared for the NFL lifestyle, they could miss out. UT is known for preparing players for the NFL, CBJ will continue that tradition.

But yeah, character is secondary to talent and tape.

Jump higher Vols.

Hurd won't be stupid to come back for his sr year.. Why put more carries on his legs.. It about getting to league and trying to get 2 big contracts before his legs can't go.. It's happens to most of them after the age 30

No doubt it would cost him some cash. He is a beast that would change the offensive possibilities of any NFL team. He should get his draft grade and then get the insurance that would pay if he drops for any reason. Set it up for a couple of million, the win the Heisman and another NC.

Dream big or don't dream at all. Odds are he will go pro and that's fair, no hard feeling from me.

Jump higher Vols.

Oh STFU pal. Just bc a he played at Tennessee doesn't mean that he's never bashed them before. I understand that you think everyone loves the Vols, but outside the state of Tennessee they get bashed, even by their own sometimes.

He isn't listening or reading. Just give up. Some just can't understand actual language concepts others than words like F...... Ect.

Last year we had 3 free agents make active NFL rosters...is that going to be the route for our guys this year?

Shows the state the program was in. Wonder cbj could get 5 wins a year with what hes had to work. So knowing now and looking back, I hope some of the Monday morning Vol Nation head coaches now realize you didn't know what you were talking about.

Best of luck to all of these guys in pro careers.

Dooley left the program in the crapper with rhe overall talent especially on the OL ans DL..

This is exactly right. Dooley recruited serviceable talent at the skill positions (great talent in a few cases), but he killed us on the LOS. His recruiting especially the last year was embarrassing for OL/DL.

I got roasted on here last year when I questioned the ability of Kerbyson - not the heart or the commitment - just the ability to play offensive line in the SEC or beyond. I was proud he won 2 OL of the week awards, but it was obvious he didn't have an NFL pedigree.

Thank goodness we are finally out of the Dooley era for good.

Back to the subject, free agent(ism) U. Some have made the point that dooley is the sole reason none of our guys got drafted (again). How long will the dooley curse stay with us? Is there a time when CBJ will be expected to produce players that actual NFL teams Actually draft (Not-could have been, should have been etc.). Looking at the those drafted, I wonder, is being on a winning team the biggest reason for drafting an individual player? As far as I'm concerned there is no place for racist remarks on this, or any other board. I'm glad there has been some "Calling out".:thud:

Here's the crazy thing. It's not like during the Dooley/Kiffin years we struggled that much in recruiting. I think the lowest rated class during those years was 24th per 247. The problem was Dooley failed to develop those players. It's downright despicable there wasn't ONE UT player drafted in two years. Goes to show how inept he was as a head coach.

That and the attrition of Kiffin's class. Ranking doesn't mean anything unless the kids are actually still here when they move on.

May have been mentioned earlier but I think it bears mentioning. But Dooley sucks, too

The attrition plays a big part. But Dooley recruited ok his first year (Stone, Fulton, James - all in the league), his second year gave us Tiny. It was the slow (for some) realization that Dooley was not anywhere near the coach/leader we needed that led to the disastrous 2012 class of zero lineman and virtually no elite talent (apologies to Randolph).

The expectations for Jones will be there this season. All Dooley guys are gone. Jones' guys are upperclassmen. The team is deep and experienced. No excuse not to be a great football team.

Agree completely. But in all reality he signed good enough classes where he just had to have at least a small shred on intelligence to get some of his players drafted. We are talking about what, 35-40 guys in the two classes that could have been drafted the past two years? That's crazy for a power 5 program of Tennessee's stature to have none of them drafted.
