NFLDraftScout 2016 Mock Draft - Marquez North

Two players that he loved in the draft.....Kelvin Taylor went in the 6th rd, something like the 211th pick. And, of course, Marquez went undrafted.

For future reference, he has both Dobbs and Hurd as sure fire first rounders next year. Lol.

Hurd will be a l late first early second.. Dobbs no way a 1st rounder

I really do think D4H is just an enthusiastic, young Vols/football fan who is too vocal for his own good. He got caught up in the "Combine makes a difference!" hype, then demonstrated that he couldn't forecast The Draft, nor independently gauge next-level talent. But I guarantee you that more than 50% of this board couldn't either. He's just trying to get involved, and he's young so he hasn't fallen on his face much.

Eat your crow and appreciate the enormity of the game that you're falling in love with. There are guys who really do "watch a lot of tape" that get paid a lot to do what you think you can do.

College football is a monster of a sport/industry, and the NFL is even bigger. It's not as easy as an "eye test." But it's a really, really fun game to follow.

Humility is a lesson that sucks, but it's an important lesson.

Where someone goes in the draft is not a big deal to me. I do however trust my abilities to see talent. I'm confident my predictions on who can play and who can't at the next level will come true.
I also trust your ability to pick a favorite player, throw a dart at a list of All-Pros and make comparisons.

I've adopted it myself recently. I've got Barnett as a first round pick. Dwight Freeny/JJ Watt hybrid IMO. People need to get on our level scouting talent. 💯💯💯🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿👌🏿👌🏿👌🏿👌🏿😈😈😈✌🏿✌🏿✌🏿✌🏿

A projection I recently saw had Hurd as being the 9th best running back prospect for the 2017 draft. This year, the 9th RB was taken in round 5.

Much better draft class of RBs next year though. At least a few teams saw that and factored it in when evaluating RBs this year.

True. Fournette, Cook, Chubb, Perine, Gallman, et al. Gonna be a good draft for RBs to be sure. Still, don't see Jalen sniffing the first round unless he has a monster year. Here's hoping that happens.

I don't see him as a first rounder unless he makes he combine his b****. Just saying that I doubt the 9th best RB will be a 5th round pick next year.

No. Barnett is the next Charles Johnson (DE of the Carolina Panthers). Solid player. Good pro. Will make a pro bowl or two. However, he won't be a game changer like Watt or Freeney at the next level.

Only game changing DE coming out in 2017 is Myles Garrett. He's a generational talent. He'll be in the pros what people thought Clowney would be.

That's the assumption. Nearly 900 rushing yards as a freshmen. Nearly 1300 as a sophomore. If the team continues it's upward ascend and he runs for 1600 yards (which I believe is very possible), he'll go in the first.

Don't be fooled by Derrick Henry going in the 2nd. He was a very flawed prospect. Hurd is a lot better. If he improve his top end speed and second level cuts (as he's said he's working on), he'll be a 1st round pick.

Watch Le'Veon Bell in the pros. That's who Hurd runs like. Just a supersized version of him.

Please tell us how you don't at least work for your local middle school football team.

You're right. Elliot and Henry were the first 2 off the board this year, both very talented, went rounds 1 and 2 respectively. I could see the top 3 next year, Fournette, Cook and Chubb, all gone by the end of the first. Perhaps the 9th best RB is picked in round 3 or 4. And if Jalen throws up big numbers this year, perhaps he leapfrogs a couple of guys and the right team wants him in the second round. That'd be great for both Hurd and the program for him to go that early.

Hurd much, much closer to Henry than Bell. He's nothing like Bell, who is incredibly elusive in the open field....he jump cuts and makes DBs miss like a guy 25 lbs lighter. Bell is quicker and has amazing lateral mobility. Jalen hasn't shown that to this point.

Btw, not much difference size wise between the two....in fact, Bell was heavier as a rookie than Jalen is now, came into the league around 245. Bell is 2 inches and 20lbs smaller than Jalen now.

True he doesn't have Bell's jump cuts. Nobody does. But they have similar running styles. Henry has no agility. Hurd has good agility. Bell has phenomenal agility.

Watch the Florida game again. Even Gary Danielson was gushing about how beautiful a runner Hurd is when he gets some open space.

Neither Henry nor Hurd have great agility, though Henry is clearly faster. Bell is otherworldly agility-wise. Him dropping that 20-25 lbs made a world of difference for him....perhaps Jalen should go back to 225 or so.

Hard to show that tho KB, when you're counting to 3 Mississippi in those slow developing running plays out of the spread. Had to hand combat his way to the LOS...by the time he got past that, a lot of steam had been expended. Wonder if that crazy fad thing they showed in the bowl game would show any other facets of his game? Running downhill and beyond the LOS before first contact? :dunno:

Hurd's 3 inches taller so his 240 is the same as Bell's 225.

I think 240 is fine. Hurd just needs to get more cut. Bell's body fat was less than 3% last year. Something like that would help Hurd get more explosive.

FYI Hurd has good agility. Watch this: https://youtu.be/PFPw9iznE8g

Good point. We both agree that the "stand up-take one step-stop-take the ball-and try to go from zero to 60" running game we have Jalen running doesn't fit his skill set, so he certainly hasn't had a ton of opportunities in open space. It was also a crime that he had to endure the OL we put in front of him in 2014. Perhaps getting him in the offset I with a better head of stream shows a different Hurd and we see a guy with a little juke, maybe even some wiggle, something that, quite honestly, I don't think I've seen outside of a couple of screen pass run and catches.

That being said, Bell is beyond elite and light years beyond Hurd and any other RB I've ever seen at that size. Hurd has a "Im a big bruising RB, come get some of this" running mindset IMO....whereas Bell thinks he's Barry Sanders, and at times you almost think he's right.

6'1 vs 6'3...2 inches.

Also, neither Bell nor anybody else walking the planet has a body fat % less than 3%. 6-8%? Ok. 2%+, no way.

No disagreement on Bell.

Ok, these moronic statements by D4H have got to stop. For a human being's organ systems to function properly, essential fat of 2-5% is needed. That means the bare minimum for survival (hormone production, vitamin absorption, and padding around your internal organs). Male professional athletes body fat ranges anywhere from 6-13%. That's what really bothers me about this D4H guy. He just makes unsubstantiated claims and expects not to be called out on his bulls**t
