Free Agent U?

I appreciate every Vol...scholarship player and walk on...how hard they work all year to be their best. I hope all the guys who want to play at the next level get a good shot in camps this summer. That said...

Anybody that was bit@%ing about losing games the last couple of years when we clearly have been playing with a shortened deck should look at the last 2 drafts as a reality check on their overblown expectations. Our staff has done a great job with the lack of talent left by DD...coached them up to be competent, win games, play a lot of close games, ect.

Next year I expect 10 or 11 wins...and 6 to 7 guys drafted. But I admire and appreciate how a group of undermanned players performed above their "natural abilities".

Fixed that.

You have to shake your head at a young man like North for throwing away a final year of eligibility and a chance to reprove himself. He might make it as an UDFA, but I hope he is prepared to finish school and move on with his life.

If somebody had told me his freshmen year that he would leave UT as an undrafted player, my jaw would have hit the floor.

This is completely backwards. He's one of the biggest cheerleaders for UT

He comes on the radio in Charlotte often to discuss the Panthers, and I've heard him take shots several times.

He does tend to play to his audience so that's why I said I didn't know if he was legit or if he was messing the CBJ.

He went in drafted, BTW!

That was former Vol Charles Davis.

He takes shots at the VOLS often. Not sure if he's bitter or really close with Jones & Co and he's giving them a hard time.

He tweeted out an APPY State fan saying that. Here's his tweet....notice that he forwarded it to Coach Jones, along with the date of the game....

MoveTheSticks (App. St.) just said "Hey CD...More guys from Germany got drafted than your Vols!"- App. St @ Tennessee, 9/3/16 @UTCoachJones

I've never heard him take shots at the Vols, dont know where you got that. And that wasnt
Davis' voice I heard making that joke.

Davis didn't say that. I was watching the broadcast. One of the other panelists said it. Davis responded by saying something along the lines of (paraphrasing as I can't remember exactly), "Did you hear that Coach Jones? You have work to do."

Sorry, you're right. I went back and watched it.

Was out on the back deck grilling when I heard it. I came inside when I heard Tennessee and thought Davis was the one that said it. My bad.

But I have heard him speak unfavorably about Tennessee on the radio in Charlotte before. He may have had good reason but he isn't always ALLVOL when Tennessee subject comes up.

Looks like our staff kind of failed these guys... Randolph and or North should have been drafted. Best of luck to those guys.

It doesn't look great for UT, but it's better for the players. If they're not drafted during the first two days, their agents can negotiate better deals as UDFAs. And some, like North, have the leverage to choose where they prefer to play.

The Vols had three players who would have been drafted if they had declared early, and we'll probably have 6-7 signed as UDFAs. It's not as bleak as some seem to think.
