NFLDraftScout 2016 Mock Draft - Marquez North

I wish him the best. He left because he is injured all the time and wanted to sell his stock to the NFL before it became worthless. Unfortunately my bet is that he gets cut. Let's be real, he made 2 catches that mattered in three years. He looks the lart, but doesn't play like it consistently.

North ranks as one of the best freshmen wide receivers ever to play at UT. He played with inaccurate quarterbacks and had the misfortune of being drilled in the back several times while trying to catch over thrown balls. Thus the injuries. He has worked hard to over come those injuries and has positioned himself to play in the league.

He had more than two catches at UT. He had spectacular game winning catches. He is an elite athlete, who should have a long productive NFL career.

I very much hope you're right and I don't think your opinion is impossible, but I'll have to see it to believe it.

Totally agree on North being a physical specimen who had some very unfortunate injuries. But what were the spectacular game winning catches? Obviously the catch against SC, but I'm not recalling any others.

North didn't have any game winning catches at Tennessee. He had 2 great catches vs SCar as a freshman that kept drives going....the 48 yd catch was with 10 minutes left, was on 2nd down and led to a fg by Palardy which made the score 21-20 SCar.

The great, miraculous 39 yard one handed catch that same game was a 3rd down play which again, only kept the drive alive, it wasn't a game-winner. We ran 5 more plays for 24 more yards to get Palardy into fg range for the gamewinning kick.

North had a great, diving TD catch vs Georgia as a freshman with 7:00 left in the 3rd quarter....but of course, we lost that game.

In 2014, North had 3 TD catches....2 vs Arky State, a game we won 34-19.....I guess you could call those game winners?

Finally, his only other collegiate TD catch was vs Georgia in 2014....again, a game that we lost.

I wish North the absolute best and hope he finds his way in the NFL and goes on to have to have a productive pro career. He's certainly physically talented enough. But let's not overstate his college career which was primarily a disappointment after what was a very promising freshman year.

Well, I agree that he played in a tough situation. The Oline, young Dobbs . . . He was a freshman and all those other "reasons". However, I never said he only made 2 catches, but rather 2 catches that mattered . And after thinkin really hard, I actually only remember that SC game. I hope he is a great pro and he was not a bad Vol. he just was 2 plays better than Paul Bain IMO. A bunch of talk about the greatness and not that many stats. :birgits_giggle:

UT pro day - wasn't invited to the combine. I'm hoping he was overlooked before (hence not receiving a combine invite) and that now his pro day numbers are out and the "experts" will take a second look.

Combine was a freudian slip

Pro Day was held March 30 latest projections were updated mid-April so I'm assuming his results are factored in. Nonetheless, the majority of GM's (a few HC's, VP's, Pres, & owners), not the "experts" make the call so he's got a one-in-thirty two chance of draft or FA. Wish Brian well

I know the Colts worked him out, and really liked his abilities, size and strength. He was a good WR when he was healthy. Maybe he will surprise some and have a few good years in the NFL.

And let's be honest. One or two years in the NFL is going to earn him more than 20 years at my job.

Sometimes the draft is based on needs. More teams need a proven QB than WRs. Why waste a draft on a WR if you can't even have a QB that can pass?

I think 5th round is more like it.

I refuse to believe Pearson ran a 4.8. I ran. 4.5 in high school and I'm an average white guy. He appeared to have more burst than that... Or so I thought.
Agreed and gave a like based bc it's tough for me to believe Pearson ran a 4.8 40. He made quite a few plays where he picked up some major yac and looked plenty fast to me...of course agility and cuts were def his strengths, but I still think his 40 has to be faster than a 4.8.

Oh and as far as your 4.5 40, I'm guessing whoever clocked it must have had slow reflexes...sorry, I just find that hard to believe bc contrary to recruiting websites, a 4.5 40 is pretty damn fast.

Von ran 4.8 at Tennessee's proday on March 30th. Also, here is nfldraftscout.com's profile of Von......

Thanks for posting Darth. Hopefully everybody in here reads this....including the "average white guy" poster who says he ran a 4.5 40 in high school....clearly he didn't sniff 4.5.

Whole lotta "the older I get, the faster I could run as a boy" up in here.

Real classy....u should take ur racist tone and shove it.

Wtf are you talking about? Haven't followed this thread very well I see. Dude described himself as an "average white dude" in high school, those were his words, his description not mine...... and then said he ran a 4.5 40. First off, absolutely nobody who runs a legit 4.5 is "average", white, black or otherwise. And no, I don't think for one second that he ever ran a legitimate 4.5 40. He may have really thought he ran it, but he didn't.

There, does that help, or do you still somehow think I'm a racist? Lol.

If you're going to jump someone's ass over something, it's probably better to actually read the thread, and more specifically the most recent posts prior to the one you are going to rip on. You might just find there is more to the conversation than what you thought.

Just an observation.

KBVol does suck, but it has nothing to do with being a racist. He's just an asshat.

j/k KB :good!:

I know I set the standard high for niceness on here, but you can't try to hold everyone up to the same level man. It's just completely unfair to them. :)
