NFLDraftScout 2016 Mock Draft - Marquez North

If North gets drafted and makes a roster, he may have made the right decision. If not, he will have made a dumb decision.

Not necessarily. There's no guarantee that coming back and running a bunch of screens would improve his draft stock, especially if he got injured again.

You got a question about Treadwell? I don't, and I don't care what 40 time he ran. That kid is polished and talented. I hope he's still around at 15 and the Titans get him. He'll be a test case for guys who don't put up great combine numbers but go on to have long, productive, even spectacular NFL careers....think Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Bolden for examples.

Treadwell is no Bolden or Fitzgerald. He might be an average NFL receiver. But nothing more.

Shepard is the only future pro bowler I see at that position this class.

Well, if teams will reach for those guys and for North, who put up very good combine numbers despite a ton of injuries and putting up very poor production during his time at UT.....why wouldn't those guys also "reach" for a guy like Randolph, who put up ridiculous combine numbers , had 4 years of reliability, very good production and is a very smart, high character guy? Understanding that the other guys in his class in the draft at his position has a lot to do with it, he sure seems like less of a reach than Marquez.

Cause his film his terrible. I don't know what games you watched but he never jumped off my screen in a positive way. He missed tons of tackles, took bad angles, and wasn't a factor on pass defense. I barely wanted him to stay in the lineup at college, so I understand why he's got almost no interest from the league.

What makes North intriguing is that he at least put up some dominant performances on tape. Randolph never had games like North did as a freshmen against South Carolina and Georgia where he dominated.

I agree on Treadwell and agree Shepard is legit, but both are capable of being pro bowl receivers...

North had 4 catches for 47 yards and 1 TD against UGA that year. The TD catch was nice and all, but it was hardly a dominating performance.

The only performances he ever had that come close to being dominating were USC in 2013 and ASU in 2014. He never took a game over. He just flashed a few times really.

Edit: 4 catches, not 44.

It makes no sense that he's been so overlooked. I just checked NFLDraftscout, and they dont even
have him in the Top 700 players!

I think he's a Top 10 safety, and his pro day performance will buy him a late round pick. Thats
a rare combination of speed and strength. I still cant believe he did 31 reps. Thats amazing.

I agree. Go look at his bio - over 300 tackles with 7 interceptions and a ton of recognition from SEC coaches and the media. For years his teammates have talked glowingly about his knowledge of the game and that he was the QB of the 2ndary. Hard to believe he's being overlooked by the draft experts and even more so being unappreciated by some posters on this board.

I refuse to believe Pearson ran a 4.8. I ran. 4.5 in high school and I'm an average white guy. He appeared to have more burst than that... Or so I thought.

Me too, I second that fact. All region running back class 2004 only NAIA offers and I ran a 4.5 as a junior.

Had a terrific combine still seems the ACL injury and reoccurring shoulder issues to include stingers are having a bigger impact than some thought

An average white guy doesn't run a 4.5 an average white guy runs a 5.0 at least.

I wish him the best. He left because he is injured all the time and wanted to sell his stock to the NFL before it became worthless. Unfortunately my bet is that he gets cut. Let's be real, he made 2 catches that mattered in three years. He looks the lart, but doesn't play like it consistently.

UT pro day - wasn't invited to the combine. I'm hoping he was overlooked before (hence not receiving a combine invite) and that now his pro day numbers are out and the "experts" will take a second look.

Looking the lart is half the battle.

You link became irrelevant when I saw who wrote the article.

By that logic, you're all good with Shaun King and Jamie Naughright and the hit job they put on Peyton.

I remember when they did the 40 yard dash challenge on 104.5....buncha guys came out saying they'd all run sub 5 seconds. Iirc, literally one guy out of dozens did, and he ran like 4.8-4.9.
