But how did Fulmer do against Bama and UGA during those years? Cause those are 3 biggest rivals. Butch has so far only beaten UGA once - so one win vs 3 top rivals in first 3 years is not so good - agreed? Which is why next year he needs to more or less run the table if he wants to keep the fans (and recruits) behind him.

Keep improving every year and wins over Florida and Bama will come.

Fulmer inherited a top 10 program, top 3 in SEC.

Butch inherited a mess, unranked since 2008, bottom 3 in new 14 team SEC.

No one is firing Butch this year unless the losses suffered are carbon copies of last year's Oklahoma and Florida games.

To be honest, there is probably no realistic scenario in which Butch get fired this year. Even if he goes 5-7 or 6-6, they will hang on to him one more year regardless.

Completely agree. He won't be fired under virtually any win loss scenario and he shouldn't be.

Riot gear (or whatever I said along those lines) was figure of speach. I think you give our fans too much credit. They have a tendency to worship new coaches early on and very quickly turn against them - as this forum is the best example. Also, let's remember that police had to guard Kiffin's house when he was leaving so clearly our fans can get pretty emotional about all this. Anyhow, I hope Butch wins huge next year so we don't have to find out who was right.

Getting inflamed when a coach dumps you for another school and murdering the family dachshund because you didn't beat Florida are two divergent fanbase reactions. I would lean more towards the reaction when it was conclusive that Dooley had no business leading a major program. Acceptance and enthusiasm towards the next coach. We had never experienced such an utter failure from a head football coach, beginning to end, to compare him to. I'd have to say our farewell was basically unemotional. Since Butch is leagues better? Next to no vitriol and most likely huge appreciation for transforming the core of athletes from subpar to elite. :thumbsup:

Dead serious. Because we play UF so early and if we lose to them at home again while favored and with the very experienced team it is very possible/likely that the season will unravel very quickly. This is because it's far from certain that if we lose that game that we will be able to emotionally recover and win road games everyone has already penciled in as W's - for example UGA, A&M, even SCjr with Muschamp who Butch never beat so far - if we have to deal with a lot of disappointment/negativity after the UF loss (which is guaranteed to be the response) than all of those later games are tossups at best (even if we beat UF some of those are far from certain wins).

Please give team 120 more credit than this. People had the team folding after the early season losses last year. Folks were pondering leaving with some on their way out when UGA got that 21 point lead.

I am thankful that the coaches and players believed in themselves at that point. From that moment on Team 119 had a very different attitude. If that attitude carries over to Team 120, they'll be just fine.

I just hate to see some of you all try to bring this team down and the season hasn't even started.
