Although we have Bama at home, that is still a game we can easily lose. Bama replaced a QB last season and still won the NC. Bama always has a blue-chip to replace a blue-chip leaving the program.
UGA is a big question mark with a new coaching staff coming in. We have to play UGA in Athens. We know the dawgs are loaded with talent. But like Bama, they are also replacing a QB. But also like Bama, they are still loaded with talent, and if Chubb comes back 100%, then along with Michel, they should again have one of the top running games in the SEC. A strong running game can take a load of pressure off of a new QB.
But still, it could be a rough year for the dawgs. But, and I emphasize BUT, if Smart is the real deal and the players are buying in to his philosophy, and if Chubb returns full strength, then UGA is a legitimate threat to win the East. I could see us losing to Bama and UGA and going 10-2, while UGA only loses 1 conference game and wins the East. While that would be an extremely disappointing scenario, I wouldn't consider the season a failure if we don't win the East. As has been said a million times already this offseason, if Team 120 is going to be as good as Volnation envisions it to be, we have to have a legitimate vertical passing game. That is the last missing piece of the offensive puzzle.
I agree with all of that. The point I'm making is that those who think that 17 could be our year if we don't get it done this year......are fooling themselves.
Edit: Also UGA doesn't have to replace a QB. Eason may win the job but Lambert does come back.
