'17' TN ATH Tee Higgins (Clemson commit)

Not good. The way I see it, we need to win the SEC East at minimum to keep this momentum in recruiting and maybe steal back Tee and a few others

So even after the whole Nigel Warrior recruitment with People constantly changing his crystal ball for over a year, we are still thinking these crystal balls are relevant. It' has almost killed recruiting for me

Yeah, They become relevant usually about a day before the kid announces.:)

This season is so important. It will make or break Butch here IMO. He wins big, the recruits will line up to play at UT and he's set for years. But a mediocre or bad season will make 2016/2017 the pinnacle of talent at UT under Jones.

For sure. I don't think anyone can deny that. 10+ or bust!!!!

People don't pay attention to who makes the prediction, which is the worst part IMO.

Except in this case, both Barton Simmons and Ryan Bartow have both CB'ed Higgins to Clemson in the past couple months. And both are usually "in the know" and quite accurate in their CB's. All that to say - it's a long way to NSD, and much can change. I just didn't agree with your point... :)

If Ryan Callahan switches to Clemson then we may need to worry.

I don't share those things on the internet. I am no Jennifer Lawrence. I like to live by the mantra 'Class, not trash'.

:hi:

kinda surprised that comment was deleted, I thought it might have been. thanks for being a good sport about it.

and for the record, a classy onus is much appreciated. doesn't mean I still don't want a classy pic. :)

I can. If they have an 8 win season this year, they still have the tallent already on campus to have a terrific 2017 season. Will it affect recruiting? Probably, but it wont be the end of the program and shouldn't be the end of CBJs career. I want them to have a great year, but the earth doesn't stop turning if they don't. The program is getting back where it should be and one season does not make or destroy a program,

Fair enough. But my question would be this. If we can't win the East with a senior QB, our two biggest rivals at home, our two most important Defensive players returning for their senior season, and two other East rivals breaking in new coaches.......then when will we?

Although we have Bama at home, that is still a game we can easily lose. Bama replaced a QB last season and still won the NC. Bama always has a blue-chip to replace a blue-chip leaving the program.

UGA is a big question mark with a new coaching staff coming in. We have to play UGA in Athens. We know the dawgs are loaded with talent. But like Bama, they are also replacing a QB. But also like Bama, they are still loaded with talent, and if Chubb comes back 100%, then along with Michel, they should again have one of the top running games in the SEC. A strong running game can take a load of pressure off of a new QB.

But still, it could be a rough year for the dawgs. But, and I emphasize BUT, if Smart is the real deal and the players are buying in to his philosophy, and if Chubb returns full strength, then UGA is a legitimate threat to win the East. I could see us losing to Bama and UGA and going 10-2, while UGA only loses 1 conference game and wins the East. While that would be an extremely disappointing scenario, I wouldn't consider the season a failure if we don't win the East. As has been said a million times already this offseason, if Team 120 is going to be as good as Volnation envisions it to be, we have to have a legitimate vertical passing game. That is the last missing piece of the offensive puzzle.
