The weapons from a botched U.S. firearms investigation are cropping up in anti-cartel operations in Mexico, a Justice Department summary issued Tuesday confirmed.
According to a report compiled for two Republican congressional committee chairmen, a WASR-10 rifle purchased six years before in the U.S. as part of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives' (ATF) Operation Fast and Furious was one of three rifles used in a July 27 attack in the town of Valle de Zaragoza that left three Mexican police officers dead.
Another weapon tied to the operation was uncovered in the hideout where Sinaloa Cartel drug leader, Joaquín El Chapo Guzmán Loera, was arrested in January.
I'd love to see the thoughts of our gun haters on this:

Woman Shoots, Injures Attempted Burglary Suspect
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - A man was shot by a female apartment tenant when he attempted to burglarize her home.
The incident happened around 11 a.m. Friday at the Waterford Crossings complex on Old Franklin Road.
Authorities said 24-year-old Trenton Hartman went to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with a gunshot wound to his shoulder. That was a short time after 36-year-old JoShanda Odems opened fire on an intruder in her bedroom.
Authorities said Hartman was treated and released. He was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary.
According to Odems, she heard repeated knocking at her door and saw a man she did not know through the peephole.
Concerned, she went to her bedroom closet armed with a .357 revolver.
Odems called 911 and heard Hartman inside her apartment. When she heard him enter her bedroom, she came face to face with him at her closet door and fired once in self-defense.
Thats when Hartman ran, and Odems wasnt sure if she had shot him.
Odems was able to identify Hartman as the burglar in a photo lineup.
At the time of his arrest, Hartman was free on a $4,000 bond for a felony theft charge that stemmed from an arrest earlier in March for allegedly stealing lottery tickets from a convenience store.
Hartman was being held on a $100,000 bond.
Just a heads up to anyone thinking about getting a suppressor using a trust, a new law goes into effect in summer that will now require sending in your finger prints and photos of everyone in the trust.
Nearly 20,000 people have signed a petition to allow the open carry of firearms at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland in July.
The group Americans For Responsible Open Carry started the petition on Change.org on Monday, according to the Akron Beacon-Journal. The petition had a goal of 5,000 signatures and by Wednesday it had reached the goal. As of early Saturday morning, the group had reached just over 18,000 signatures.
The Secret Service along with Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, state and federal officials are handling the security at the event. The Secret Service banned guns at the GOP Convention in Florida four years ago.
UNREAL: Look What the Obama Admin Did to 260,000 Vets...
Two Senate Republicans are seeking to understand the Veterans Affairs office practice of reporting veterans to the FBIs National Instant Criminal Background Check system.
Currently a veterans assigned a fiduciary trustee to act on their behalf is automatically declared mentally defective and is reported to NICS, the database Federal Firearms Licensees use to determine whether a prospective buyer is eligible to buy guns. As of December 2015, the VA has reported 260,381 individuals to the FBI, effectively making them prohibited firearms possessors under the law.
Making a due process argument, the lawmakers argue the VA uses the fiduciary trustee status of a veteran to regulate firearms possession without ever seeking to find out if the service member is a danger to themselves or others
If a person can no longer take care of himself to the point where a court assigns a fiduciary trustee to take care of that person's interests, why shouldn't there be more investigation as to whether that person is of sound mind to legally purchase firearms?
Can you imagine the imagery of 20,000 angry, resentful, white folks carrying guns and shouting about going back to the 1950s? They wouldn't just lose the Senate, too. They'd give the Dems a super majority.
