I feel the same way about golf.

I love golf. To play it that is. Nothing better than a good golf game on a Sunday to assist in taking that nap on the couch. NASCAR is right there too. That rhythmic hum of the engines is like a tranquillizer.

Sport enjoyment is completely individualistic, which is why there is no right or wrong when discussing... Just preference.

Except Bama fans... They are just wrong

I just saw this. I laffed.

The time factor of a baseball game is one component but it's also the length of the season. Until the All-star break if you miss one game, a week, or a month the standings are within reach for the bulk of the teams minus the outliers. Life happens and at the end of the day only the most devoted watch even 81 games of the season which is still only half their total. Contrast to the NFL the average fan can easily catch 8 games or more of the regular season.

Some sports such as golf, tennis, or nascar set up better for single events and other must see showdowns.

For many of us, I assume we keep a pulse on our individual secondary sport preferences by default ( general sport talk on the websites/sports talk shows) and tend to tune in around the playoffs. If there is a story line or personal tie in to a player/sport we pay more attention for that period of time then let it go back by the wayside.

I understand all of it. It still just bores me to watch. It wasn't like that til my mid twenties. I actually prefer watching women's softball over baseball now.

But that has nothing to do with the actual game. That's call pretty coeds running around a field.

Watching MLB playoff baseball is a lot of fun. If I were going to convert someone to the sport I'd start by taking them to some live playoff or World Series games.

Baseball is also a game that can be "boring" until it's suddenly not. For example, one of the most fun live sporting events I've attended was a Braves game 10 years or so ago that Jeff Francoeur won with a walk off two-out grand slam. It was in the middle of a bad season, but there was a big crowd on hand that night for the fireworks at the end (no pun intended). Overall it was a seemingly average game that the Braves were losing 5-2 (I think) headed to the bottom of the ninth. But once the rally started, the crowd became electric. And the roar was deafening when he hit the ball.

Over the years, everyone I've ever made a concerted effort to convince to like baseball I've won over. It's just a game that is enjoyed differently than the other major sports...

Francisco Cabrera's hit to win the NLCS in '92 for the Braves is among my top 5 sporting moments of all time. A quintessentially baseball moment.

Probably the greatest sports moment of my life. My family went absolutely berserk when he was called safe at the plate.

My mom has never been a big sports fan, but even she couldn't resist the allure of the Braves during the 90s. When they lost the World Series that year, getting ready for school the next morning was like getting ready to go to a funeral.

Shoop is impressed with Micah Abernathy so far. Kid is going to be hell on the backend for us. Jalen Tabor style of player that can play anywhere on the backend and make plays.

Was in the AF grudgingly preparing to congratulate the Pirate fan putz down the hall...had been such a series long trash fest. :yahoo:

I know it's too early, but do you see him as the possible starter at free safety? With TK at strong and Gaulden riding up? What's your prediction on where Byrd ends up? I was hoping for an eventual pairing at CB with Marquill.

I'll join the baseball discussion. I don't watch it as much as I use to and I think the closer you are to the game the better. Being at a game is way better than tv. It's a relaxing sport and being there makes you enjoy it more. One thing I like about baseball is the Braves will be on tv almost every night from April to September and I can chose to watch when I'm in the mood.

Boom. I do remember this moment and watching it live and celebrating. That was back when I liked baseball, though.

As I've gotten older, my personal interest and enjoyment of sports have honed in. And frankly I don't see how a lot of people have the time to follow a bunch of different sports, unless it's done just superficially.

Of the sports I follow, most are done at a distance. Now my vols, I am personally invested.
