Sorry for the derail.

In other news, Butch and Co. be handing out offers like Halloween candy.

Saw where Butch confirmed Austin Smith to DE. Anyone else not overly excited about that move? It seems we have very good depth at DE but not at LB. Idk, I'm just trying to encourage some football talk.

Would that be considered sexual assault?

I guess it really depends on the recipient. Some like the warmth of it.

Under the context we are discussing here dealing with college athletics the charge and subsequent pleading to a lesser charge causes a great deal of damage. I know schools are working hard to keep things like this from happening but alcohol, sex, and the climate we currently have with the lawsuit we are going to see such things happen more than we expect I am afraid

In my case, the other charge was something that wouldn't be charged in a normal case. But I understand what you are saying.

Testimony of the parties involved, the witnesses, and any other available evidence just like any other legal proceeding.

Which basically ends up another he said she said most of the time.

Again a few drinks can make a small inexperienced drinker very intoxicated.

Nearly impossible to prove how intoxicated after the fact.

For the record I am in no way saying a person is damned to hell for such an act. If so my seat is very hot. It's just a dangerous area to operate in these days

JRM,Bates,McDowell,Sapp,Bryant,Berry,Kirkland, Jumper (I know),Landon and Blakely...just off the top. Some are speculating that Griffin could convert. Compare that to DE. We got Mixon, who might slide inside to DT...same with Butcher. Then we might just have one year (depending on injuries/production) of Barnett and Kongbo. Our depth is Vereen (Starter?) Taylor,Phillips and now Smith. If Tuttle is back healthy and the Alexis Johnson situation resolves in a timely fashion (not likely), then we might not be forced to use DEs for depth and that helps the numbers, but we're not loaded yet at DE...IMO.

It's not "nearly impossible." You may not like how people prove intoxication (or anything else), but it happens every day in court rooms all over America.

@wesrucker247: #Vols students are dressed in black and holding cards protesting TN State Senate’s vote to strip state funding from diversity department.

I've got no problem with it. DE depth will be really good in 2016, but 2017 is a bit of a different story. Vereen and Latroy Lewis will be gone. If Barnett can just replicate what he's done the last 2 years, he's a no brainier to go pro. I get the impression from various quotes during Kongbo's recruitment that the hope there is that he'll be a "one and done." Not saying it happens, but if it's a close decision, I'd say he jumps if there's a chance. That would leave Phillips and Mixon in 2017 as the only DE's that we've actually seen in action.

Based on his action this year, I believe Smith could be really good at DE. Besides, it seems the SLB/DE hybrid position that guys like Smith and Maggitt fit well in Jancek's system will be replaced by a SLB/S hybrid in Shoop's system.

There are numerous organizations at the university, which are funded, to promote diversity and outreach, but if the students feel very strongly that this one office is critical, I have no doubt they will be willing to bear the cost to fund it through tuition increases. I believe the office's state funding was on the order of 300,000 dollars. A modest increase in tuition will easily cover those expenses.

Smith was recruited with the assumption that he would probably grow into a DE. He will be great.

Agree. Looking for Smith to have the same impact as Maggitt. Wouldn't be surprised to see more evolve into different positions as they mature and grow.

The state senate should just censure the office of diversity for the Christmas memo, not defund it entirely. Defunding at this time just adds to the problems the university is facing.

About all this rape culture stuff...

Tl;dr: The sexual culture isn't the fault of colleges. It's the fault of mainstream America.

Nailed it. The real problem is that America has a problem with rape and sexual violence that we need to fix. There are a lot of reasons as to why and many things that contribute to it and it will require multiple fixes. It's not contained to anyone are of American life and certainly not contained to college campuses.

That said, it's not the fault of what women wear and I think you overemphasized that way too much.

This. It has absolutely nothing to do with what the woman wears.

I'm not placing the blame one any one gender. I was merely citing examples of where we are as a culture. Those are symptoms of the real problem. We have a sex problem that goes to our very core and is not the fault of a university or government. It's the fault of our own selfish sexual desires that get perverted to the point of exploitation. Nothing new, but I will say that the availability of sexual exploitation today isn't helping things.

Bama fans showing why they are the dumbest fan base in sports.

They are taking to Twitter and claiming being the OC at Bama, Kiffin has a better job than if he were offered the HC at Illinois.
