Trump looking good in this press conference
The ace up his sleeve is the fact that "calm" appearances like tonight are much closer in line with his real personality, and they will become more and more common now that he has a huge lead.
He's going to win over many more voters after he secures the nomination once he starts to make appearances that are more palatable to the average voter. A lot of people have an image of him as being a total blowhard, but if you go back and watch interviews with him from the 80s and 90s, he was fairly reserved.
He played the game well by making outlandish, over the top statements and arguments during debates (and he will continue to do it in public to some degree) in order to separate himself from the pack, but overall I think he's on a downhill slide towards "normalcy" as the general approaches.
Nearly?
Carlos and Volprof have an unhealthy obsession with the possibility of Trump in the White House. I would like to see him win just to hear them wail.
it's not that hard to figure out. trump was made possible by ineffective, dishonest, and arrogant leadership inside the GOP ranks.
voters delivered for the gop in two big elections that should have carried a very clear message. the leadership gave the voters who did all the groundwork to deliver two majorities the finger.
now they are dealing with the consequences. my state hasn't voted yet, and trump will not get my vote. i don't, however, find his support baffling.

Agreed. I'm not a Trump guy, but his support isn't hard to figure out. All time high name ID, out of touch leadership, people sick of Romney/McCain type candidates etc.
exactly, voters are sick of watered down Republicans that could probably change their name to Democrat and you wouldn't notice. People are pissed and the GOP underestimated how pissed off the people are.
The man leading the field in the GOP primaries makes your statement false.
Trump could very easily be running on the Dem ticket.
One of the talking heads last night said "Trump doesn't want to be president, he wants to be a king". If you actually listen to him describe what he us going to do and the way he talks down to others......this description of him may not be that far off. He may want to watch his comments toward Ryan also. The speaker of the house is much more powerful than Trump gives him credit for.
