Too much thinking in enclosed environment.

So true .My sister in law graduated from med school and can't get a residency. She's so smart she's dumb. Can't carry on a 2 min conversation, keep her check book balanced, and is always broke due to her poor money management skills.Plus shes 200k in debt from medical school. How she ever got a MBA I will never know.

One of the unfortunate byproducts of our educational system are that we put out a lot of highly educated people whose main skills are school/academia related instead of real-world related.

Working in Japan, it's even worse here. Government job promotions (some in the private sector too) are usually earned by passing examinations (large amounts of which may be completely unrelated to the job at hand). So a lot of times the guy in charge isn't any good at his job or management or anything. He was just really good at preparing for and taking tests.

As an outsider, it can be pretty baffling sometimes.

Taking tests
And
Life skills
are 2 totally different creatures :hi:

When I was faculty at a med school, your test scores and recommendations got you the interview...your interview as a person was how you were ranked as an applicant.

Our residency director was a sweet little lady from India (great physician). When I convinced the other faculty to hire the person not the resume, she had no clue.
I had to teach them how to inquire about life. We had a flag football team, so I asked her to ask any applicant if they played football; if so, what position. We got a former D1 WR that way :)

That's funny Doc.She is like that in that she test very well. But when she goes to interview it's a whole different story. She belongs in a lab doing tests. Not dealing with the public.I just can't convince her of that.

Radiology or Pathology would be perfect. Radiation oncologist is another, the Oncologist handles the human side. The Rad Onc figures the radiation side.

I tell my patients that I learned my bedside manner while being a bartender (very true) :hi:

Yes she has both. She has been in school her whole life.I told my wife she stays in school so she don't have to deal with being a adult and the responsibility that comes with it.

Wow. There is literally no reason to get both prior to entering the private realm.

Plenty of MDs go back and get their MBA before starting a firm in the medical field.

No one gets both at the same time. Not sure why you would need to...
