So your assessment is that the staff thought it was in the best interest of success to take the best player out of the play as a decoy?

That could be one of the more ridiculous things I've read on these pages. It's more likely that injury and lack of prep time due to those injuries kept him out of game planning

Why play him if he's not in the gameplan? What's the point of dressing your best WR?

Preston Williams didn't practice but we sure as hell gave him chances after a week of practice. Explain that...... Lack of practice didn't hurt him gameplanning wise and he hadn't played one snap.

So, is the concensus that it is all the coach's fault and poor Marquez was a hard working, good attitude, freak athlete that was black balled?

Don't know. Just doesn't help when all of the receivers are being unproductive. It is a cause for concern, but the offense will still put up plenty of points this season.

SN Does anyone else remember that article on North running routes until his feet bleed, or did I just imagine that?

I think it's a philosophy issue personally. We just don't feature our best players enough. The usage of Wolf is another concern of mine. But I guess he doesn't practice hard or stay healthy enough.

He's the same kind of soft Hurd is, the kind that bulldozes people and carries around multiple tacklers. Some people get something stupid in their head and refuse to get it out. Don't bother trying to convince those people.

Terrible comparison. Hurd has played through injuries and has flat performed well. Hurd also destroys pass rushers and those that try to stop him.

We put a lot of points this year. Most in more than a decade, iirc.

Did we feature North enough? No, but that's why it is reasonable to think there were mitigating circumstances like bad practice or poor attitude.

Either way, as long as we keep scoring like we averaged last year, I don't care whose getting the ball.

I do agree that it's odd how we don't throw downfield.

It is. Went back and read it. Brandon Myles

Bowles Affidavit

Is there another document link? I ask because 1. half of it is missing if you check the page numbers AND 2. it doesn't seem to have come from Bowles at all but is Jane Doe V's account of what she allegedly witnessed.

Drae may not have actually changed his tune at all. It crappy the media is portraying this as coming from Bowles rather than Doe V's account regarding Bowles, especially if the missing 40 pages or so are also Doe V's account.

Just how many deep post or sideline go patterns did you see last season? Count them on one hand or two? You should need your toes on both feet to add to the total if the play calling is right and execution halfway decent. At least 2 per game even in conservative game plans. The threat has to be there to keep the D's honest.

No reason he shouldn't. I've made the comparison before, but he is Da'rick Rogers without the ****ty attitude. He's a freak athelte with a great work ethic. If he gets a legitimate chance, he will shine IMO.

I like North but he's closer to Hunter than Da'rick. North has an incredible physique but he plays more like Hunter did -- more finesse than Rogers had but still physical and a freak athlete. Now Preston is gonna be more like Rogers was.

Disagree.

Preston is a blend of the two but North is a lot like Da'Rick. I don't see Hunter comparison.

Personally, I don't see a Hunter comparison at all. If anything, it's Preston that more closely resembles Hunter. JMO.

Disagree with pretty much all of that.

I just don't see North as a guy that busts defenders heads. North goes up for them (jumps over a defender like Hunter did) but Da'Rick would knock a defender over, run over them or split them to get balls. He loved contact. I have never seen North even when he was healthy come anywhere close to doing what Da'Rick did.

Totally different styles.

I was mostly talking physical build, and by that metric, I think North and Rogers are damn near identical. When he was healthy though, he would snatch balls out of the air and hit a guy. He is far more physical than Hunter was...at least when he was healthy early on.

Ok I think we're on the same page there.

Go watch the 2014 Oklahoma clip Breakerboy posted a couple pages back. North is extremely physical.

Funny, I thought North's back would be bothering him today.

I don't think it's at all out of the realm of possibilities North was reared to go this year then had that mishap with the knee in camp that Brad Matthews blew up. Subsequently he said forget this, I'm taking it easy this year and coaches picked up on that and used him sparingly.
